Bent Light?
« on: October 22, 2009, 05:15:27 PM »
Can someone explain how the bendy light thing works, I thought it bent down which is why earth looks round from in the air e.g. an airplane but now ppl say it goes up?
BTW I have read the FAQ.
If the ultimate objective is to kill Skeleton, we should just do that next.

I cant follow those. I mean a proper explanation in English not algebra.

Light bends up.

That's not an explanation. That's like saying "Parsifail is a skull on a stick" and calling it an explanation. Aren't you going to give him a detailed breakdown of how the upward bending of light conflicts absolutely with observation of a sunset from altitude?

I can't do that, given that there is no such conflict.

Oh dear, beaten so thoroughly that you have to resort to plain denial.
There's your answer, Skeleton.

If light bends up, why are pictures showing curvature of the earth from high up inadmissible?

EDIT: High up being, say, 17 miles up ...

I don't know about "bent light" in the FE model.

I do know about light in proven physical models.  To start, let's deal with the term "light".

Light as we describe it is just photons.  Photons are not predisposed to bend in any direction, unless acted upon by an external force.

So in the FE model, light has the physical property of bending upwards?  Why? Please explain, because that makes no sense to me at all.  Light can be bent inward due to gravitational pull, but upward?  Based on what physical catalyst?

This is unknown.

Parsifail, do you want to add at this point that there is no experimental evidence of bendy light without reference to the earth's surface?

No, because that is irrelevant in this thread.

Since when has irrelevance stopped you in the past? And I see you are not denying it.

Please stop derailing the thread. The topic is clarification on bendy light, not discussion of its validity.

One is intrinsically linked to the other. I doubt Skeleton would want to bother with the fine details if he realised the whole concept of bendy light has been disproved weeks ago.

I wouldn't want to either; it would be a waste of time continuing to develop a debunked hypothesis.

OK so bent light has been disproved how will you explain the horizon?

You can't. This part of FE model is still being revised constantly. The phenomena Bendy Light does not exist as it does not agree with any observable evidence.

EAT certainly does agree with obervable evidence. Your statement is clearly false. For example, as a ship travels out to sea, it appears to vanish over the 'horizon'. This is precisely what EAT predicts. Thus, EAT agrees with observable evidence, and your statement is incorrect.

Excuse me Wilmore, but is there a formula that can be used to make and verify these EAT based predictions?  (and I'm not talking about formulas based on the RET horizon formula)
