A flat earth is already the pretense. Take a walk around your town sometime.

If you think that the earth exists as some other weird shape the burden is on you to demonstrate it.

I'm a grade 9 student and my science teacher is very smart he told us the the pictures we see from space are all flat and theirs no way to really prove the the earth is round or flat , and the theory about the sun reflecting the earths shadow on the moon can be wrong to, because any flat surface that is round object can make the same shadow and the moons surface.

this is a good theory but is this flat earth 3 dimensional?  and what shape is it? is it square, circle , triangle?? does this flat earth have a core and if it does how was it shape with out gravity?? if gravity pushing everything into the center (inward) wouldn't  the earth be round?? just thing about the big band theory. how likely is it that a flat earth can orbit around the sun. or the moon can orbit around it?

Obviously, otherwise as soon as you tried to dig a hole you would puncture right through it.

Pretense? As in " The act of pretending; a false appearance or action intended to deceive"?

Tom, "Naaaa we were here first" is not a logical argument.

You cannot see the horizon, and therefore cannot say whether or not the earth looks flat in that picture.

All it proves is that I hate bl4ke (I live in Canada, it snowed today ).

And you can tell that from what part of the picture? The earth's flat-ness or round-ness is typically perceived from the horizon, and that isn't visible in the picture.

I'm not trying to. Everyone can see from the world around them that the earth exists as a plane as a fundamental pretext.

Ergo, the burden of demonstration is on anyone who claims that it's something else.

So what do you think will happen when privately funded space flights become routine in the future? Will we discover that the Earth is actually flat?

is your intellect seriously that narrow? Is your mind really unable to comprehend how things that you may not be able to see (right away) exist?
The Earth isn't a mile across, just because a mile-long stretch may seem flat, you cannot assume that the whole world is flat. According to your logic, if we are high enough in the sky, we would be able to see everything on the Earth. Can we? No, we can't. There is a visible horizon, and this cannot exist on a 'flat Earth'.
Just stop it. I seriously hope that you aren't being serious, because if you are, I feel sorry for you. And I laugh at you.

Hah, yes you do. And you know it to be true. If you really need me to explain, I meant that according to his logic, if you go high enough, say, over the United States of America, you would be able to see all the way to Australia, with the correct telescopic equipment.

I think I see where you're mistaken now.  According to Tom's logic, our ability to see across long distances is obscured by the atmosphere.  Air is not perfectly transparent.  Let's remember that even the sun is limited in the distance its light can travel due to the atmosphere, at 3000 miles above the Earth's surface, which is why it acts like a circular spotlight, and why it is night in Australia when it is day in the US.

Yet the atmosphere isn't that opaque is it? We can see the sun, the moon and the stars on the horizon, all of which *according to FET) are 3000 miles away, if not more.

I wonder...
