You can't tell from a 10 foot square patch of ground whether or not the Earth is flat.

The Earth isn't a mile across, just because a mile-long stretch may seem flat,
you cannot assume that the whole world is flat. According to your logic, if we are high enough in the sky, we would be able to see everything on the Earth. Can we? No, we can't. There is a visible horizon, and this cannot exist on a 'flat Earth'.
