The Conspiracy.
« on: September 20, 2009, 05:27:45 PM »
Ok ok. Apparently, there's a massive conspiracy in telling the world lies of there being a spherical earth. Even though you can stick the word conspiracy on anything and everything that occurs in everyday life and come up with made up facts and fool a few of your friends and family for some shits and giggles; you cannot fool a population of 6 billion+ people with one single conspiracy. Instead of taking a scientific stance, I'm going to take a more logical approach; common sense if you will.

Firstly I would like to mention one argument someone makes against one who does not believe a conspiracy exists or wonders who is behind it. The answer is always "the government".  In all likely-hood, it always seems like the government is a very easy target to blame for everything. I mean come on, at the end of the day, it's them who determines how good of a life we live. So why the hell not blame a powerful institution that, at some degree, controls our lives? We can also blame them for not reaching a mystical "ice wall"! Which brings me to my second point.

An ice wall that circles the entire earth and keeps everything in side, just like a big bowl of soup, has never been reached to in the 21 century. Even though there's a plethora of technology and plenty of ways to travel the earth, there hasn't been anyone able to get solid evidence of an ice wall. Why? "LOL TEH GOVERNMENT SHOT THEM DOWN TO THA GROUND!" What government is doing this? What is there to hide? Why spend so much money to tell the people of earth that the planet they live on is a sphere? What is the motive of "the government"? In order to do something, you need an end result. I don't see what the government is winning here by telling us we live on a sphere, what are they gaining? What's in it for them? Why try to fool a world population of 6 billion people?

One question I have asked above annoys me the most. The lack of common sense is really sad. According to a FET believer, the government and NASA are working together to fool the population of earth. Where's the plural form of government? If it's a typo, (If not, and if you actually believe the United States government is the only one in on this, then that's just sad) why would the governments of 195 different countries, of different likes and dislikes, actually work together on this one thing and fool, let me say again, 6 billion people?

One would argue; its NASA. (Even though proof of a spherical can be made without going into space) The United States is one of the few countries that can actually send something high into the sky. Last time I checked, China is in space. They have satellites circling the moon and earth! Notice how after this happened, President Obama spoke publicly on how he wants the United States to get back in space? The competition in space is evident! So why believe we've never been? The SEB (Spherical Earth Believers) don't blindly follow, we see fact and reasoning, not strong denial! It's common sense that drives us to believe a spherical earth, not a blind theory!

You can come up with all of the most scientific "proofs" to try and convince yourself the earth is flat. Whatever it is FETists argue with: Bendy Light, It's magic that a sphere can be made without a "seeable" force, John Davis, James McIntyre or whatever. But there is NO solid proof, not a shred of it, on this conspiracy, the one excuse used by everyone who believes a flat earth. And don't bother saying financial gain, please, the lack of common sense in that is astounding. (If there was a huge financial gain from this conspiracy, why is the world's economy struggling? Or is that another conspiracy, oh goodness.)

It isn't specifically one government and there would be only few needed to carry out the conspiracy. It's not like every single government official or employee would have to be involved.

Scientific laws cannot even be proved. How do you expect a conspiracy (which has a main goal of staying hidden) to be proven?

This isn't a sense of science. But a sense of logic. How can you say a conspiracy exists, when there's no evidence that it does?

Exactly! By seeing how millions of tax dollars were spent on NASA (and other space agencies) experiments that were faked, we can see evidence of the conspiracy

No, because there's no evidence the experiments were faked, so you skipped that phase and moved on to the necessary "conspiracy".

Scientific laws can be proven, that's why they're called laws, not theories.

International Space Station partners:
United States of America
Russia
Canada
Japan
European Space Agency member states:
United Kingdom
Germany
Italy
France
Belgium
Spain
Switzerland
Netherlands
Sweden
Austria
Norway
Denmark
Finland
Ireland
Portugal
Greece
Luxembourg

Other nations that have orbited satellites:
China
India
Israel

I counted 24. That's quite a bit more than "a few".

As of right now, the most compelling piece of evidence for the conspiracy is the fact that the Earth is flat, yet NASA is claiming to have put men on the moon, taken pictures of a RE, etc.  If the Earth is indeed flat, then NASA must be lying when they say it isn't.

That isn't a few, he's making a statement on how fickle the argument of a conspiracy existing is.
If you say only a few need to be involved in such a conspiracy, then why are 24 countries undertaking space exploration?

How do you expect a conspiracy (which has a main goal of staying hidden) to be proven?
Follow the money.

Even if you follow the money in ends up where SEB's actually believe we've been in space and have taken photos of earth and have been to the moon. So it's just a dead end and doesn't help with your argument of a conspiracy existing because it still doesn't represent evidence and such.

It's funny how you guys can pile everything up in scientific evidence in trying the prove the FET is correct. But you don't realize you're just piling it all on top of your nonsense conspiracy theory that has nothing to back it up! At the end of the day, even with tons of scientific "proofs", it all comes down to whether NASA is lying to us or not,  and I have yet to see any evidence proving that they are.

But where's the compelling evidence that the earth is flat? I'd take a claim of someone actually being in space rather than a claim of someone who hasn't and just wants to simply rebel against at supposed system that is corrupt and doesn't even exist.

There's not compelling evidence of NASA never being in space nor is there any compelling evidence of people at NASA grouped together photo-shopping a few pictures to make the earth look like a sphere.

Yep, you got it right on the nail there - ONLY if the earth is flat, does there have to be a conspiracy. You can't use flatness as a "proving variable" for the conspiracy, because first you have to prove the flatness. You haven't managed to do that, therefore the conspiracy remains baseless until then.

If you guys expect to spread your knowledge about a flat earth to more people, I'd highly suggest working out your conspiracy. The logic behind it just doesn't make any sense. Yes, the conspiracy is highly possible, but it is rather improbable because nothing proves it to be probable. It's shady; just made up to use as an excuse to prove NASA and other space agencies are wrong so you guys can feel good about yourselves and tell us about your scientific theories and crap. In all reality, think about this, your scientific "discoveries" will mean absolutely nothing unless you can prove NASA, 165 other country governments, 23 other space agencies, and the 98% of the population that believes the earth is a sphere, wrong. We need documents that show NASA workers doing the dirty work  you speak of. We need documents and testaments of different governments telling each other to hide the truth of a so -called flat earth. You can't believe a conspiracy exists unless you know it does with true evidence.

Until that day, the day you provide the world with proof that everyone is in on the conspiracy for a little dough, then I will consider the earth being flat.
The bottom of your pyramid of false belief will crumble; it is inevitable.

Btw, I would like to hear from more intellectual FET believers on this issue.  :D

You won't, it never happens.

I agree with you. They can make up all the scientific "laws" they want, but at the end of the day, if the conspiracy, the sloppiest part of the FET, falls apart, then the earth is round and that's the end of it.

Ambrosiah, Thermal Detonator, and markjo, in all honesty, I don't disagree with any of you.  I believe there might be a couple of FE'ers on this site who will argue that there is some outside evidence of cover-ups, but I don't think there really is anything concrete on that.  The conspiracy section of FET is almost certainly the weakest part we have, and we are thinking of more plausible or elaborate answers than "The government is lying to us".
