Horse Latitudes

I would be interested to hear the explanation given by modern science as well as by the ancients for the lack of wind in these areas.

There isn't lack of wind, there is just little wind. Where I live, there's little wind as well, 50 km north, theres much and much stronger winds.
This is of course no proof for FE.

There is a lack of wind in these areas.  Lack of anything means little OR nothing of the substance in question.  I deliberately used the word "lack" instead of saying "no wind."
 
  Incidentally, I have read in several books including encyclopedias that there are regions in the horse latitudes that do indeed have no wind at all.  

  I am still awaiting an explanation for the lack of wind reguardless of what viewpoint it comes from.  The opening statement is not an invitation to argue.  It is a general request for information as to the cause of the windlessness of the horse latitudes.  I would first like to compile knowledge from all sources before making judgements about the region.

  Needlessly hostile attitudes are often a dead giveaway that a hidden knowledge perhaps lies beyond even if the agent of hostility is completely ignorant of it, and are therefore a boon to further research which would otherwise most likely be more limited.  Therefore I thank you for the inspiration.  

  Again the request goes out to parties of all opinions as to the cause of the lack of wind in the horse latitudes.

Unfortunately the answer is not known to me -- the usual explanation I hear as something to do with hot, dry air and high pressures, which I find incomprehensibly uninformative.

Surely the answer is fluid-dynamical in nature.  I will endeavor to discover it for you at the earliest convenience.

How does the lack of wind uphold the idea of a flat earth, though? Are you saying there's a connection in the conspiracy or something?
