I was holidaying on Menorca recently and I was in an 8th floor hotel room. My balcony had a sea view. One day I stood on my balcony and i could see, quite clearly, a cruise liner. I ran down to the seaside and, alas, the cruise liner had gone "how odd" i thought. Back on my balcony the cruise liner appeared again. I repeated this test 5 times, so it was a "fair test".

Distance from balcony to seaside <100 metres.

Question - where did the cruise liner go?

Answer should be submitted by no later than 18.00hrs GMT 10th July 2009.

Question - where did the cruise liner go?

There is not enough information in the question to answer this. You have merely stated your observations of it, giving no detail as to where it departed from or what direction it was travelling in.

If you think about it, it doesn't make any difference since I repeated the experiment 5 times. Anyhoo, the liner had weighed anchor.

ahhh it was joke !! You were trying to suggest that I was asking what the liners ultimate destination was. How amusing.

Menorca is too expensive and there are too many tourists. For a nice relaxing holiday next year you will be welcome in our village. You may also be able to conduct the same experiment as we see cruise liners quite often, But there are no hotels with 8 floors. Sorry.

We have hills on 3 sides.

No scaffold. We stopped hanging tourists a few years back. It seemed that they stopped drinking beer afterwards.   >:(

We are surrounded by hills.

where is your Village? If it's within reasonable distance we could do some fine experiments. You could site atop a hill with a camera and I sit at the bottom with a camera (within your cameras site) taking photos of cruise liners in the distance, or not in my case.

Eastern Med.

I walk in the hills regularly so that wouldn't be a problem although it can be heavy going in the summer heat. However I just get a sneaky feeling that the FE'ers won't believe that we haven't just been sitting drinking beer and eyeing up women. You know what they're like.

I'll come along to make sure you're not just drinking beer and eyeing up women. But you have to pay for my flights. And accomodation. And food.

I counted drinks under food.

Typical. It always come down to money.

If I was to pay for all that I'd definitely not be drinking any beer.  :(

Well that would certainly help me with my job of making sure you're not just drinking beer. You and monkeybladders can split the costs.

Beer is an important part of some specific gravity questions that need to answered though.
