They step outside and look around. THE EARTH AROUND THEM looks flat, so the entire Earth must be flat.

And they were told that people used to think Earth was flat, so they assume that these hypothetical ignorant masses were right and all of the scholars throughout history were either wrong or part of a conspiracy that still goes on today.

I don't believe the Earth is flat, I accept the evidence (And there is TONS of it) that the Earth is a sphere.

Anyway. It's like this:

FEers are deeply religious. They want to believe in a universe that mirrors the creation myth in Genesis. It's that simple.

There is another aspect: The 'skill of the debate'

Many people here are just trying to hone their debate skills, they'll argue the FE'ers viewpoint from the second person and use language skills to divert argument from anything that might demonstrate the FE stance to be false.

Let's look at a single aspect of the Flat Earth model and examine... in terms a lawman can see... if it's reasonable. The FE model holds that the Earth's mass isn't creating the gravity that holds us down... instead the entire universe (including the earth, but not you and me or the water and air around us) is accelerating upwards at 9.81 meters / second squared.... which would look exactly like gravity to us.

Water and air have mass, and are subject to the forces of gravity (Or the acceleration, the force on us is the same). What keeps us all on the earth is a huge "Ice Wall" (read the FAQ) that is 150 feet high. But it's only 150 feet high. How is the atmosphere ABOVE that kept in? CERTAINLY there is air higher than 150 feet... there are clouds and planes there.

There is nothing in the FAQ about this, but I've been told that there might be a huge dome over the Earth. A DOME? Who built that?

They can't, since they have no proof. Check the index and search around in the threads. What you will find is assumptions and unreasonable conclusions based on pure imagination. The only "real" proof they've got is one flawed formula, which you can read about in the "Proofs thread".

I don't seriously believe the world is flat. I have been known to argue both sides. For me this site is a means to sharpen the debate skills. It is also an excercise in creative thinking as well as forcing myself and others to prove what we believe to be true without using data that is taken for granted.

Excuse my French, but this is incorrect.

I'm a Flat-Earther who does not believe in God or any other religious/spiritual phenomenom, and I'm not here to practice arguing points I don't believe in. I genuinely believe the Earth is flat, which is the only reason I argue here.

I'm sure there are many other FE'ers like me here.

Are you all sick in the head? Try dropping a havier (~1kg) object from a tall building (at least 10 floors). Did you drop it? Good. Now if you measure the exact point it fell, you will see that it doesn't match exactly with the point from where you dropped the object. That's because during the time when the object was in free fall, the Earth was spinning.
So Earth is round.
f you can't make it, fake it.

Im guesssing that is what ppl that believe in a FE base there prediction on.... that was the point of this thread, its not to bash the FE'ers some more or the RE'rs for that matter bc they believe somethin different... i simply wanna know what makes em believe what they believe

This is absurd.  You can very well prove things.  Logic and reasoning is collective, sir, otherwise logic and reasoning would only be relative to each person...and I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure there's a place called California where a big muscle man is governor even though I've never been there.

I've said this once, and I'll say it again.  That whole ideal is refuted in basic philosophy (or philosophy 101).  That train of thought leads nowhere, so I suggest you get off at the next station and return to the content of your post.

Using the same exact logic this site produces about the earth no being round, for all you know that "big muscle governor" couldn't even live in California.  By saying that you don't have to actually see something, in person, with your own eyes, to know it's a fact, means that the whole world could be in on a collective conspiracy to say that this "big muscle governor" is the actual Governor of California, when he really isn't.  And since you've never actually been there to find out, you don't know it's a fact.

What's absurd is the fact that you had the gall to say his thoery was absurd, you've just contridicted yourself.

You've just thrown any chance of having proof that the earth isn't round out the window, good job, sir.

This all started back when the Gogoaphrodites (the chemical warfare agents of 15th Century.. created poisons etc) claimed that my discoveries were false as they said the chemicals were received from Roppholdite the Dragon, the Guardian of the Ice Wall. If my discoveries were to be believed, then there entire organisation would be gone and they couldn't scam money anymore.

So, in turn, they fought tooth and nail to destroy my discovery. However, seeing as 99.9% of the people weren't retards, I was believed and my theories proven.

The creators of this site are the descendants of the Gogoaphrodites. The Roppholdite Dragon is now referred to as 'the government'. These people were the 0.1% of people who were retards and didn't believe me, EVEN THOUGH I OFFERED THEM SPICES! Obviously retarded, I mean as if you wouldn't accept my theory if you get a few spices.

I never said it wasn't round.

But your premise is simply wrong.  Existance CANNOT[/i][/u] depend on one person.  It simply can't work; it disproves itself.

If someone lives in California, for example, that person cannot say California exists even though that person lives in California because of the very fact that someone else has *NOT* been to California, and because of that very thinking, has no evidence that California exists.  Therefore, California would both exist and not exist.

Thinking like this is a waste of time.  Its saying that we cannot know anything, which, by that very factor, is false.
