Petrol is more efficient than electricity for highway driving, but electricity is more efficient for city driving. A hybrid makes perfect sense if you're going to be doing a lot of both.

It usually uses both electric and gas power in conjunction (the ratio is all that varies).

36 miles to the gallon? Not that great to be fair. Fuel economy has little to do with your car and a lot to do with how you drive it. That Prius will burn more fuel than a petrol guzzler if you drive it like a wanker. See the Top Gear fuel economy race for evidence.

Bullshit mine has flames on it, and is plenty cool! It get's 0 to 60mph fairly quickly as well. It tops at around 110!
