Does anyone here believe that Alchemy could possibly exist?

Given the right knowledge of the elements (which we seem to have now), wouldn't it be possible for one to "transmute" one element into another one?

Well, I suppose it would be possible if it were possible to rearrange the actual atomic makeup of a single element. But if that were possible, would turning lead into gold really be possible?
Who really needs one of these things?

It's entirely possible.  We do it all the time.  It also happens naturally.  It's called "fission" and "fusion" depending on whether we're making lighter stuff from heavier stuff or vice versa.

It requires a tad more energy than can be produced in your typical alembic or crucible, I'm afraid.

bah plutonium? limited facets to sell it and it isn't needed all that much and if you sell it to the wrong person you can fully expect to spend the rest of your rather short life being tortured for who you sold it to.

Platinum you can sell to anyone without having your finger nails removed.

Now the only thing to do is find out exactally how to alter the subatomic structure of element A, and make element B out of it. And make sure nobody else figures it out. And make sure the government NEVER hears of it. And make sure that you sell it to the right people that won't ask questions.
Who really needs one of these things?

the thing is that it takes obscene amounts of energy to alter something subatomically, that it broadly becomes pointless atleast from a manufacturing point of view.

We could make artificial oil easily enough, but the cost would be astronomical.

Guys, I've already drawn weird things on my floor, clapped my hands dramatically, and held the marks.
But nothing's happening.

Do I need more bat wings?

What I mean is, there are other sciences to "create" money. You do not need to research this science if you are simply doing it for the money.

MY GOD! Do you people have too much time or something? ::)

We are able to create gold, the cost is simply astronomical and therefore it is pointless.

End of story.
