Motivation......

I am new to this forum and I am curious to have a few questions answered.  As silly as it is, for the sake of argument let's assume that the earth actually IS flat.  What then is the motivation for the entire community of science to deceive us all in thinking the earth is a sphere?  I don't get it.  What are you flat earthers REALLY trying to accomplish here, and WHY do you think everybody is trying to fool you?  Please help.
