  • I disagree. What was the Question?
Has anyone here read this or know anything about it?  I ran across it doing some research.

Belief gets in the way of learning.  If you believe something, you've closed your mind to any further thought.  I know some things, little things, not the nine million names of God.

(Paraphased from R.A. Heinlein's "Time Enough For Love.")

I would be concerned if there wern't errors in science and mathematics.

Science tries to match the current observation to a theory. Science by it's very nature assume it's wrong.

It's why we are still experimenting and theorising about the world around us.

I was more interested in how correct he is.  His book came up on a website of dubious repute and I was wondering what his actual credentials are.

That's neat, I think I'll need to give it a thorough read through.
I don't know what you're implying, but you're probably wrong.

I found this profile of him which may or may not be of any help.  Apparently he is an artist who thinks that he knows a good bit about physics.

It is just the way it is, you understanding it doesn't concern me.

Well i've read about a paragraph and already I don't agree with it. Though I may have time to read more of it. The bullshit warning lights are flashing rapidly.

I've been skimming over many of the pages and it seems to be the same thing over and over again: giving preliminary excuses as to why people will reject his ideas and then picking up a definition of something and twisting and changing it* and then explaining why his new definition is wrong. As soon as he does this I start to go onto the next paper as from that point all he really seems interested in tackling gaping holes in the straw men he himself creates.

Perhaps he may be right about some things or everything but he would certainly go a lot further if he tried a different approach.

*Example: he describes the dimensions used to describe the position of a point as dimensions of the point itself and then argues that this must be wrong as points don't have dimensions.

Yeesh... I wish I'd seen that profile first. ::)

This guy's a nutball.

I just can't take a man seriously who claims he can fit 32,000 golf balls under his fingernails. ::)

"Here I show that Einstein?s mass and energy transforms are also incorrect, including the famous E=mc2. I also show, for the first time, that the classical equation E=mv2/2 is not an approximation. Finally, I derive the number 108 for the proton."

Seriously?

I too had a quick look over it and by quick I mean lightning. The first topic I chose to look at was on angular momentum and was quickly laughing quite loudly (which didn't go down too well at work).

"Seems very simple, but it is wrong. In the equation v = 2πr/t, the velocity is not a linear velocity. Linear velocity is linear, by the equation x/t. It is a straight-line vector. But 2πr/t curves; it is not linear. The value 2πr is the circumference of the circle, which is a curve."

Unfortunately for him, 2(pi)r is not a curve as the radius of a circle is constant. So the rest of his argument is pretty much useless. And if something as simple as a 3 constants producing a straight line screws with his mind, I dont even want to think what would happen if he tackled anything more complex...

In other words, it's bullshit.

Yep and not even a good attempt

"A car hitting you will apply a force, whether or not it is accelerating." -From the kinetic energy page.

This guy makes me laugh!

At least from experience, when a car hits something, I think it does decelerate...

" Einstein was nice enough to provide us with this simple equation, but not nice enough to tell us why the energy depends on the square of the speed of light."

Ya, I'm sure that Einstein wrote down a bunch of random equations that "seemed to work", even though he deduced it all from a small set of assumptions...

This guy is hopeless.

He IS funny...

I am trying to figure out if he is a troll or a idiot.
then I thought he could be both.

I'm going with idiot.  Trolls typically aren't that dedicated.

Holy shit, we've gotta ban this Dihydrogen Monooxide stuff! :D

But yeah, I see your point.

This is the best part:

Quote
Research conducted by award-winning U.S. scientist Nathan Zohner concluded that roughly 86 percent of the population supports a ban on dihydrogen monoxide. Although his results are preliminary, Zohner believes people need to pay closer attention to the information presented to them regarding Dihydrogen Monoxide. He adds that if more people knew the truth about DHMO then studies like the one he conducted would not be necessary.

A similar study conducted by U.S. researchers Patrick K. McCluskey and Matthew Kulick also found that nearly 90 percent of the citizens participating in their study were willing to sign a petition to support an outright ban on the use of Dihydrogen Monoxide in the United States.
I'm going to side with the white supremacists.

Funny as in "gotta laugh to keep from crying" funny?

Without those idiots there wouldn't be the Darwin awards.

I propose we build "Idiot Zoos", for the amusement of the intelligent.

No very bad idea. I say we release them into the wild. then we can send people to make nature documentary's about them. that way we don't have to use resources to protect them. picture the drop in law suits.

Where would the wild be? People have colonized almost every crevice of the Earth, and idiots are rather abundant.

Antarctica? there also are a lot of wild areas we could drop them off in. its not like many of them would survive long enough to cause any problems without help from civilization. all I know is I would not want to be in charge of a zoo filled with them.

Maybe we could have idiot reserves or something similar.  Designated area's where they can be monitored.  As for population control.......idiot hunting season, anyone?

Population would not be a problem. as I said before I doubt many of them could survive on there own.

If I was just snatched and dropped off right now, I'm not sure that I could survive in Antarctica. It's a desolate ice desert, hardly a natural place for humans.

I agree with Singularity, Antarctica would not be a suitable environment for them.  I suppose we could find some uninhabited islands to keep them on.  They would still be isolated from society and it would offer them a much more habitable environment.
