Nong Youhui was born with eyes with substantially imbalanced pigments giving him eyes not unlike a cat. He can see perfectly well in almost complete dark, but also sees clearly during the day. Scientists currently theorize that a rare condition called leukodermia was a contributing trigger in this strange case. I saw a picture on the news before looking it up on their website but I don't see it online. Apparently this is old news in China, but it's new to me.

Thoughts? Evolutionary implications?

People need to breed with him. That is a good mutation, it will then prove evolution to uber religious people.

I don't know if Im "uber" religious but I am a creationist.  I believe evolution has been proven.  Its abiogenesis that's the issue.

That russian page reports on the same story, so I personally think it might be real. Think of it as the red eye effect, only his irises reflect light. It looks sort of like he's a goa'uld, though. :P

Eyes are colored by pigments, derma means skin, which is the normal place for pigments. It would be a very short logical jump to assume the disease has other effects that are skin based and got its name from there.
