What did Jesus think?
« on: February 13, 2009, 02:59:26 AM »
Hi All,

This is my first post! I've been reading the site for a while now and it has sure captivated me into registering!  ;D

I have a question: Did Jesus think the world was flat? If Jesus is the Son of God, who is omnipotent and all-knowing, creating the world and everything in it, surely his  view would be THE correct one. Is there any evidence in the bible to suggest his views on the subject?

I'm new to this also, but I find this an intriguing notion. I for one believe my guiding light and saviour would have found the earth as flat as my nans balloons six days after christmas day, yet are we being tested? I have ruminated on this paradox for many a night since the start of my house arrest.

Revelations, Ch 13:

And the Lord spake, 'careful when thou approacheth the edge of thy kingdom, for the abyss awaits, in thy mercy'.

Pretty conclusive if you ask me.

Hi CopurnicusKilla (love the name, I sometimes think the church should have got a bit more "medieval on his ass").  I too am a first time poster and I too have often wondered what Jesus would have made of the ?earth is round? fabrications of today?s scientists.

I would assume Jesus would have dealt with them in the same way as he did the money lenders in.  Cast them all out!!  That?s what I say.

By the way, I drive a London cab and have yet to drive off the edge of the earth - then again, I never go south of the river after 10pm.

And the beasts number shall be Six hundred three score and six even whilst they gnash and renteth their garments unto sackcloth until verily the SFT shall come amongst them yea even to TF.

As we all know, Jesus was jewish - so I would be careful about believing anything he said - there's always controversy when Jews speak - its like a riddle fest, they say one thing when they mean another.

I do know that Jesus was the Messiah, but what was that about throwing the first stone?  Did he mean that he wanted to throw it himself?
