Some MS Paint help
« on: February 09, 2009, 07:57:31 PM »
So I am making a picture. I sketched it on paper, and then I scanned it onto my computer. Now I want to draw on top of that picture, but then after I have drawn on top of it, I want to remove the whole sketch that I scanned completely. How can I do this?

I just need some layers. There is no tool for this?? Oh well, I guess I will redownload CS3. But before that, I will check out this GIMP and illustrator stuff.

There are no layers in MS Paint.  MS Paint is just for drawing and such.  I would suggest Photoshop or Gimp, if you're comfortable with it, as the user interface can be somewhat confusing at first.

Ya, gimp is awesome. It is a little confusing, but I got all the stuff I need, except for how to draw straight lines and arches like in paint. I can't find those buttons.

I don't think GIMP is meant for drawing, but rather image processing. I would suggest a vector drawing program; personally, I've had some good experiences with Inkscape.

No, you shush. Anyone who has ever tried out photoshop and knows how it works should be able to tell that it is far superior.

So because there is a superior product available, the lesser one must be bad? Also, nobody knows how it works except its developers, thanks to it being closed source.

Knowledge of how to use something does not imply knowledge of how it works. The average person may know how to drive a car, but they'll take it to a mechanic if something is wrong with it instead of trying to fix it themselves because they don't know how it works.

Whatever is easier to use is superior. Photoshop/Illustrator are easier to use. QED, superior.

But we were going by easier to use. You can't change what we are judging it in respect to.

Aspects of the program are still part of the program itself, I changed nothing to the argument, simply how it was structured.

Then your argument "it is simpler so it is better" wasn't true?

No, I switched the structure to continue to support my argument.

But gimp only takes 30 seconds to install, not the hours it takes CS. And paint comes with Windows, so it is still better than everything else.

Hours? You have a shit machine then, the entire Creative Suite 4 package takes no more than 10 minutes to install everything that comes in Master Collection.

Well last I remember it was a long time, so I said hours.
