NASA given $400 million to study global warming
« on: January 22, 2009, 08:01:39 AM »
NASA is being given 400 million dollars to study global warming.  Recall that NASA is known for distorting data exagerating, and lying about global warming: http://www.dailytech.com/Blogger+finds+Y2K+bug+in+NASA+Climate+Data/article8383.htm

House minority leader John Boehner raises a good point: " I don't know how giving NASA $400 million to study global warming is going to meet the goals [of an economic stimulus package.]?

Why is 400 million dollars being slipped into an economic stimulus package and more importantly into NASA's pockets to study a lie that NASA themselves created?

The global warming phenomenon is real, but the Carbon dioxide cause for it, invented by the global "climatologist" community, is a joke. Also, the targets for sales of the compact fluorescent bulbs have been reached, and the latest research is finding them to be more dangerous due to UV emissions.
So, NASA needs the money to come up with a different plausible cause for the global warning, which will, no doubt, result in more of our money being flushed down the drain by adopting some other global warming-reducing lifestyle changes.

Another lie from NASA.

Also note NASA already knows what is causing global warming.  The sun is getting hotter.  As a matter of fact, they have already noted warming in other planets too.

NASA needs money to line their pockets and help fund the conspiracy and it looks like the only "change" we are going to see conspiracy wise in this new administration is the quarters and nickles (if only it was that little!) that Obama will be dropping towards the Global Conspiracy.

Yes, but they have not yet determined how this can be used in their interests!

I'm not sure I understand your post... How is it not in their interest to get 400 million dollars?

In general, I'd like to think that NASA et al. are just misreading the available data.  However, yes.  FE theory 99.99% of it says there is a conspiracy.  This is a consequence of the earth being flat.  They say it isn't.  They are either lying or stupid.

Alright. Then we agree that this is a claim from the FE. The burden of proof is on FE.
Now how did you come to this conclusion that there must be a conspiracy, and yes....you know this is coming...
Where is the proof of your outlandish claims?

What would you accept as a proof? Confession by a US president? CNN "investigative report"? You have to be specific about what you are asking for. Otherwise, I would have to ask you to prove that you are not crazy, or that you really exist.

Now you're just wasting my time WastedTime... :P
You must have something since 99,99% of the FE'ers believe that there is a conspiracy.
So....enlighten me. Just give me anything! Perhaps something that convinced YOU that there must be a conspiracy.

Yes, but it's still a claim from your part. You claim that NASA is part of a conspiracy.
This is not the same as questioning NASA's honesty.
Therefore the burden of proof is on you.

How do you know?
Trivial - the only "scientists" claiming that carbon dioxide is the cause of global warming are climatologists. Have you heard of "climatologists" 10 years ago? Have the governements been stealing  money under the "global warming" crusade 10 years ago? Same thing with UFOs - the only scientists advocating for it are "ufologosts". Typical snake oil pitch. Talk to an astronomer and you will get a completely different picture.

Nope. The burden of proof is never on the skeptic in debates on religion, time travel, or the paranormal. The burden of proof isn't on the skeptic on the subject of space travel or global warming, either.

The burden is always on the claimant to prove his claims.

I'm not sure what the problem is here. Who would you fund to research Global warming? CERN?

Is funding a group who works on high altitude aeronautics and observations of Earth from space on something that requires high altitude aeronautics and observations of Earth from space really that bizarre and suspicious to you people?

Also,

I can't see any 'distorting data exagerating, and lying about global warming' there. All I see is a computer bug.

You will either have to take my word for it, or do your own thinking nd research, but having spent some years in and around academic (as oposed to applied) research community, I can tell you that the only way to get funding is to create hype. The hype can be of many different variations, including defence, commerce, or political gain. You may remeber the boom and bust of "high-temperature superconductivity" in the late 80s. There were/are many more. The human-induced global warming so far resulted in banning incadescent light bulbs, and my hydro utility increasing rates to "compensate for the the decrease in revenue dues to the reduced demand". I still have a notice they sent me.

Believing in a conspiracy is no more a claim than believing in FE is a claim. Also, a belief in the conspiracy is an extension of belief in FE. This reduces to the "FE belief burden of proof argument", which has been sufficiently answered in other threads.

I already told you. Questioning NASA's honesty isn't a claim. It's a question. No one is claiming a conspiracy. They're questioning NASA's honesty. The conspiracy is just a consequence of their lie.

You're the one here claiming that NASA is honest and that it can send men to the moon, robots to mars, and probes to explore the solar system. The burden is entirely on you to prove those claims. No one needs to "prove you wrong."

I don't need to prove that NASA is lying. You need to prove that they are telling the truth.

Burden of proof is on the claimant.
