They don't. That's a myth.

Because the earth rotates, a fluid that flows along the earth's surface feels a "Coriolis" acceleration perpendicular to its velocity. In the northern hemisphere, Coriolis acceleration makes low pressure storm systems spin counterclockwise; however, in the southern hemisphere, they spin clockwise because the direction of the Coriolis acceleration is reversed.

No he's not, the direction that toilets drain has virtually nothing whatsoever to do with the Coriolis effect.

now im not completely sure i understand those links but thanks for them

anyhow they bring up a good point, the fact that launching things like cannon balls move slightly off to one side, how would this happen if the world wasnt spinning?

Do these websites also say that the Earth is round? If so, why even use them for your argument?

Because the people I'm arguing with believe the earth is round.

Well first off, I believe the the flat earth model says the earth is spinning. And second, I'm fairly sure a missile only moves off to one side slightly if you shoot it a very long ways. There is no way you or I could launch anything far enough to observe this.

Yes, but the only people who have the technology needed for firing long range missiles are the government.

I'm sure geurilla groups can manage that, without the aid of any government. Or insurgent groups.

There -are- ways to create pseudo-missiles with household products, that any average Joe can make (but, uh, make sure you're a good ways away from civilization when launching... those pesky cars and their gasoline tanks... *chuckles)

Who's to say? I haven't tried, but I'm still sure it's possible. It's not really hard to write programs like that; I'd have to say that some of the planet's best programmers are unaffiliated with their governments.

yes, as many of them are hackers.  and it is indeed possible to make a homemade, far reaching projectile, cannons are not hard tomake, neither are potato guns, or Spartans for that matter

basically, its a homemade explosive, think a rocket launcher made from everyday stuff, not common, but existant.   And Penguin, you madea referense to the FAQ to answer the question about the Corliois effect, where it remains an unanswered question... it seems that there is a blaring hole in your logic

yea its kinda pathetic, i consider myself to be a RE'er as of now, but i want to learn about the FE theory, to make a descision, and they cannot account for something that large and glaringly fake in their philosophy

Oh and by the way, i just got ahold of my friend in New Zealand, and the toilets do, in fact, swirl the other way, no myth there, and he is not part of any "conspiracy" so dont even try

Yea, that episode was halarious,

and I still have not recieved a response the the blaring inconsistancy, the RE have an explination, so  I am inclined to believe them in this situation
