Out of curiosity

Does anyone actually believe this flat earth theory? I'm hoping that this is just a massive troll gathering.

A couple of people.  Most do it to play devil's advocate though, as neither Round Earth or Flat Earth can be proven, so the noobs (Round Earthers) come here and give pictures and such trying to "prove" the Earth is round and the members (the Flat Earthers) set them straight with such comments as pictures are not evidence and neither is Google Earth, etc.

Basically, the noobs are stupid and new and argue for Round Earth constantly, while the more experienced users know that both are possible and defend Flat Earth.

Ah, so why does modern science have almost a 100% consensus on the roundness of earth? Is it just because everyone is afraid to face the facts and admit a possible alternate theory?

If the earth is flat and there is no rotation which creates gravity then how does the air stay, or the different "spheres?"

Yeah, because rotation definitely creates gravity. It definitely has nothing to do with mass.

If the earth is flat and there is no rotation which creates gravity...

Oh my god...you cannot be serious...

Rotation does not cause gravity, mass does.  The bigger and object, the more attraction it has.  It has nothing to do with rotation.

Round Earth is most plausible and makes the most sense.  However, it is not absolute.

How do we get these amazing pictures of the round earth?

I noticed that you said pictures can be edited - but you would think that ONE person who had access to said photos would say "uh..that's flat". You would think that there would be some noticeable trace of doctoring. Especially in the old photos, before they had this great photoshop stuff.

The Earth is not a Stanford torus.

Yeah, because rotation definitely creates gravity. It definitely has nothing to do with mass.

So if we stopped the earth from rotating, would we still have gravity?

Of course we would - the theories are entirely based off of mass, and have absolutely nothing to do with rotation. l2physics

It wouldn't matter because we'd all be dead.

I have a proposition to resolve this once and for all. Let's stop the theoretical round earth from rotating, if we all die then we know we were right.

If it's not round, how would you stop a round earth from rotating?

The most concrete way would be to fund a space trip to Earth orbit and make sure we see every last piece of the Earth, and then we'd most probably know for sure.

Be adding tons of thrust in order to reverse the spin? This would undoubtedly do something catastrophic to the FE too.

Stuff dosen't have to be round to rotate, an easy Susan rotates and is flat.

Flat Earth doesn't rotate.
