PROOF!

I have a simple request

In the early 1500's Ferdinand Magellan, actualy did sail around the earth, PROVING that it is round. Infact, every day, planes cross horizontily and meet no "Ice walls".

Now, ive read your fAQ, ive looked at posts, and their are some clever little, "workarounds", but none of you have actualy tried to go entirley around the earth.

Do what Magellan did, because im sure that modern airplanes have some magic power to return to the other side of the dinner plate you think is your home.

If even one of you takes a boat, sails to the edge, and returns with proof, than congrats, you win.

Until than, I have proof you are wrong courtesy of a man with HUGE balls.
(Albeit, he may not have been out to prove you all are mentaly incapacitated)

Heresay is not proof.  You didn't sail with him.  You have no PROOF.  You have statements in books that said he sailed around the earth.  If you do have actual proof, show it.  How do you know the earth is round?  Someone told you it was.

According to your logic, all forms of recorded proof, of any kind, are irrelevant.  I guess i better start burning all my encyclopedias, and destroy the internet.

Besides, how do you know the earth is flat? Oh right, somone told you it was...

I don't understand why you would want too, "shoot holes" through a theory you did beleive in, and even if you don't beleive it, you have to agree that recorded knoledge does count as proof, unless somone cares to dismantle the story of magellan and show me why it didn't happen.

And what would have stopped Magellan from sailing around a flat earth?
Sailing around a flat earth is perfectly possible as long as you don't try to sail from north to south.

Actualy, it would have not been possible with a flat earth

You see, magellans voyage was entirley to the west, and he was able to return to the point from which he started.

If you keep going west on a flat earth you'll end up going in a big circle and ending up where you started.
Look at the map in our logo. The route Magellen took would work just fine on a flat earth.

Even if he had been with him, or had flown around the world, you would have called him a liar, stating he was only saying this because he wanted you to believe him

BTW what personal gain would this person have had to say he had sailed around the world, there is nopersonal gain from it

If it's possible to travel East or West and arrive back at your starting point while moving in one direction, then the Earth wouldn't be "flat" as many of the Flat Earth believers are saying. It would be a cylinder.

Flat Earth could be comparable to a sheet of paper. When you drag a pencil across the paper to one side, it doesn't appear back on the other side.

Explain this?

You are not understanding their map.  North is not the top of the picture, it is the middle.  This is where the 'north pole' would be.  So if you took out you compass and went west, the compass needle would always point to the middle.  This would make you walk in a big circle, returning where you left, and you would have gone west the whole time.

Assuming you didn't have a compass, and you travelled in one constant direction that wasn't north or south, what would you come to?

Without a compass, how would you know you traveled in one direction?

Only problem with that is it would be pretty much impossible on a flat earth. The only way that would work is if the earth was dome shaped.

It's the only way you can travel completely around the world, yet not have to globally cover-up the fact that you can't fly to China from Los Angeles.

Yeah, I did.

I want to see a map of your version of the flat earth. It doesn't have to be super detailed, I just want to see the basics. Continents and placement of the north pole.

I don't have a version of the flat earth.  However, the FES has a picture of the flat earth at the top of every page on this site.

Depends, what are you using to determine your direction, East on the FE model is a counter clockwise circle.  Is you used the North Star, you would travel in a circle around the center point of the disk, above which the north star hangs.

But as you look at the map, most of the sailing was done near land masses,   he traveled from one point to another, not by sailing "Due West" but in the most effective routes given prevailing winds and currents.

Like most of his contemporary explorers, me was looking for better trades routes.  They work in a flat or spherical earth.

The way I'm describing the travel, you just happened to travel in one direction continually. You, by chance, didn't move from this single direction. You just kept travelling and travelling, in an east or west movement. This has nothing to do with travelling around continents or using compasses. Just hypothetically, you travelled in one direction nonstop that was east or west, where would your destination end?

Does this "ice wall" encompass the entire flat Earth?

In theory. Unless continental shift and water currents can somehow occur on the "underside." Maybe there is no "ice wall" and everything on this side of the flat Earth actually moves to the other.

Then without gravity, the ocean would drain off the earth, hence the ice wall.
