Let's take the rape of a young girl, I assume we can all agree that this is wrong. Why? Because we know it is. There's nothing subjective about it, even the rapist knows it. Why? Because we all possess an inner compass which tells us right from wrong, a divine script if you will. People who deny this are... well, in denial.

In todays society. In some cultures it is perfectly normal for young girls to be sold as sex slaves. So no not everyone can agree on what is right or wrong.

Moving off this topic for a moment and onto the crux of this site, do we all actually believe that the earth is flat?

Wrong topic for that....  This is about religion.
Belief gets in the way of learning.  If you believe something, you've closed your mind to any further thought.  I know some things, little things, not the nine million names of God.

(Paraphased from R.A. Heinlein's "Time Enough For Love.")

We're talking about raping little girls at the moment, you're question would be better in it's own thread in general discussion. Have a good day.

Fine. If god was in fact jealous, it would infer that jealousy was either an appropriate emotion (at least in certain situations) or would down grade the power of God, answering the Euthyphro problem.

No, it would mean that god is jealous. Omnipotent and omniscient does not in fact mean perfect. Just all powerful and all knowing.
Omnipotent and omniscient means there is no reason at all to bother with the petty human frailties of our race. Do you care about the plight of every individual ant in the nearest ant colony?

A jealous God is one that cares about what individual humans think; even if the Jewish God said he was jealous just to pinch Moses' people into action, there are still lots of examples of how the Jewish God cares about his people.

An omniscient and omnipotent God, by definition, would know where the tragedies will occur and would be able to make them dissapear without a sweat. He would have known that humanity would betray him before creating us, and would create us different from the start.

It is possible to have an omniscient and omnipotent God that has better things to do than care about us, but it is hard to think about him suffering with our problems.

This is your opinion.
Do you care about the plight of every individual ant in the nearest ant colony?

No, but if i made them I'd be pissed that they were worshiping someone else.

A jealous God is one that cares about what individual humans think; even if the Jewish God said he was jealous just to pinch Moses' people into action, there are still lots of examples of how the Jewish God cares about his people.

He threw molten gold on people that broke his commandment not to worship other gods.

An omniscient and omnipotent God, by definition, would know where the tragedies will occur and would be able to make them dissapear without a sweat. He would have known that humanity would betray him before creating us, and would create us different from the start.

I usually know if a girl will cheat on me before she does, knowing something will happen does not make it hurt less. Compared to animals, we show much more emotion about losing something we know, even if it is just an animal. So wouldn't you expect something even more intelligent to be MORE jealous, and care even more about people. He would have complete empathy because he knows what they are going through. Knowing something will happen, hardly dulls it.

It is possible to have an omniscient and omnipotent God that has better things to do than care about us, but it is hard to think about him suffering with our problems.

U can receive many answers to this questions you have posted. The question is "what do you believe". Or are you looking for what other ppl believe? To me, there is no devil. There is one god and one goddess that control everything. They are our creators. Evil does exist, but not from the devil. It is from spirits on this earth that like to play games. Kinda like, lets say, some mean trickful rude angry person passes away and there spririt is still here on earth. They are going to be the same way after death. There spirit is still going to do these mean things to ppl, trick ppl, and get them to do things they would never do. Ppl call it sinning, ya, some ppl call it learning. I see it as tests.

Your religion is poorly thought out and poorly spelled.

Evil is relative, nothing causes you to "sin."

All human actions (even those labeled "evil" or "good") are merely results of the brain chemistry and psychological state of the person doing those actions. And in the grand scheme of things, any action, event or happening of any sort is completely irrelevant anyways. There is no god or creator, and there is no imperative for the existence of the universe. Although I believe this to be the case, I still have a moral code of what is right or wrong. I believe that deriving morals from religion is harmful, because ultimately you are doing "good" things not because they are right, but because you think that you are being watched by some deity. Do you want to know what happens to humans after death? They become fertilizer. (Or in the case of cremation, they become an asthma-attack in an urn.)
Some people say women age like wine: With age, comes increased beauty. I respectively disagree. I say women age like milk: if they get to old, they become sour and lumpy. Maybe my hypothesis is related to my current bachelorhood...

Perfectly normal does not make it ok, it just illustrates the morally decrepit state of that particular culture. Deep down the slave trader knows that he probably should help build the local church as opposed to selling off virgins. Alas more often than not man is blinded by greed. Also sex, drugs and rock&roll. And that's a tough act to follow.

I doubt people in Asia are being corrupted by sex drugs rock and roll. Or think what they are doing is wrong. It just shows you, not everyone has the same beliefs as you. (why do I respond seriously?)

The world couldn't handle 6 billion me's, or even mini-me's. Really though, no sex or drugs for sale in Asia?

Like I said, morally decrepit. Too many Muslims, Buddhists and Hindus if you ask me. Fine women though, all petite and tight... like a 14-year-old girl but legal. So why bother raping underage girls when there are so many willing participants with expertise out there?

Cuz it's like a 7 year old girl but legal.
