Exploration of Antartica
« on: November 24, 2008, 07:25:10 PM »
I have read on your forum that beyond the depths of Antartica is a mountain range covered in snow forming the "ice wall." In 1885 it was proposed that Mt. Everest was climbable. It took a whole 68 years for someone to successfully climb the mountain. Captain Cook discovered Antarctica in 1773/1774. (Let's go with the latter for your sake.) The have been flat earthers since before Columbus. What's taking you guys so long? I personally know people who have made the trip to Antartica. If you really want to prove us round earth believers wrong, go get proof. It is there, isn't it?

Yeah but he's just saying why can't you guys go down there and grab evidence of the Ice Wall?

Why not take pictures at the edge of the Earth? There has to be some form of photographic evidence that you can conjure up. We might refute it like you refute ours, but it's better than just wild conjectures.

OK

And, just to add my two cents... i asked the FEers about antarctica before:
http://theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=24095.0
Basically, everyone who has ever been to the southern pole was idiotic and wandered around in circles.
That includes all of these people: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Antarctic_expeditions

So... i guess that nobody will ever find proof of the ice wall. How sad.

If you were on top of a really thick brick wall, you would only see bricks...

alright.
well what if hundereds of people have explored this brick wall, and have seen it to be a continuous mound of bricks instead.
Some have even traveled to the other end of the mound in one trip, and have never fallen off anything.

You can't just say "wrong". You have to motivate and back up your answer.

Besides, why have you failed to present us any pictures of the ice wall?
I was thinking of putting up the "top ten shapes of the earth". I've got Pyramid Earth and Cubic Earth so far...

No one has crossed Antarctica because it does not exist. The pictures you see are of either a part of the ice wall or completely fabricated.

Google image "antarctica" for pictures of the ice wall.

I don't see an "ice wall" anywhere (even down to page 10, there is not a single ice wall). If you claim that all those images are fabricated, then you have to tell me why and how.

I do see plenty of flags, barren ice lands, water and penguins. And don't claim that all those glaciers and mountains are parts of the ice wall.

Um, the entire Antarctic coast is the Ice Wall.

-ahem-
when you said "wrong" im going to assume you were attempting to negate what i was saying about antarctic explorers.
Yes, they have been to antarctica.
Yes, they have transversed it entirely.
Yes, there were hundereds of them.
Yes, there are satalite as well as standard pictures of the area (whatever you call it)
No, all this is not in support of the ice wall. It is in support of the antarctic RE.

either all those people were in on the conspiracy, or were too stupid and wandered around in circles and making up maps as they went.
or you are "wrong."

are you prepared to make the claim against several hundered years of exploration?

You should have taken her hint; you are making a fool of yourself over the internet. How embarrassing.

The ice wall has likely been circumnavigated, but it is extremely doubtful anyone has crossed it to reach the "edge of the earth" as it were. If they have, we certainly have no way of knowing.

Meh... i have made a bigger fool of myself before. Besides, half the people on here are nuts. FE and Re alike.

Anyways:
If the ice shelf has indeed been circumnavigated, then either people would have reached the "edge" or would have "discovered" that the earth is round.
If it has not been circumnavigated, then all those entries in wikipedia as well as other sources are false/faked/someway skewed.

are you saying that you are unsure of the merit of those entries? or merely the idea of a circumnavigation?
My opinion is that they are true, and that thier findings support RE.
Im trying to figure out what FE has to say about this, or at least a guess or something. please?

Circumnavigation is possible on a flat earth.

So, do you think anyone has ever achieved such a feat?
and... you might need to clarify what circumnavigation means with a flat earth.
Circumnavigating a round earth is quite a different story

The Flat Earth:

That isn't really the Flat Earth you know?  The FES doesn't know what a FE map should look like.  They have said that repeatedly.

But assuming that map is correct, don't think that anyone circumnavigating the "Antarctic Continent" would notice the extra 61,000 miles that they traveled compared to what their RE maps said that they should?

They could do this by checking the angle that the Stars change as they travel (a centuries old method of navigating that existed long before any conspiracy that NASA might ahve cooked up).
Everyday household experimentation.
