Proposition 8
« on: November 11, 2008, 06:11:25 AM »
Now, because of this proposition, homosexual couples no longer have the right to marry.  In Arkansas in particular, homosexual couples cannot adopt children.  Do you agree or disagree with this proposition?  Discuss.

I think the question is a matter of definition and not necessarily rights. Most American discourse I've heard takes the form of acceptance of gay civil unions, but not their marriage. I don't see how attempting to maintain the classical definition of marriage, purely for the sake of that definition, is in anyway a good.

I think it's disgraceful that loving, caring gay couples are forbidden from adopting children when any horny sl*t can pop out more than she can look after and leave them unloved. Makes fecking sense to me.

Gay couples should be allowed to marry, but not to adopt children if there are equally qualified heterosexual couples wishing to adopt the same baby. This should be done to give children the most natural upbringing possible.

Stupid question.

Gay couples should be allowed to marry, but not to adopt children if there are equally qualified heterosexual couples wishing to adopt the same baby. This should be done to give children the most natural upbringing possible.

And, do you have any evidence that being brought up by a gay couple is bad? I don't think it will affect the child's ability to do normal adult shit when it grows up.

That won't be a problem when (in the UK at least, not sure about America, though I gather it is largely the same) there are so many children needing adopted or foster parents.

Also what do you mean by 'most natural'? surely that is running naked through the forests hunting wild beasts and living in trees and caves?

Hi, lrn2gayhavingchildrentypesituation.
What about surrogacy? Are you going to ban them from that as well?

I voted no. I know this makes me a major hypocrite, but I don't have as much of a problem with lesbians as I do gay men. I think it is because I can't blame them, after all, women are hot! But I don't get why a dude would want to be with another dude.

???

That's not the question.  Should homosexuals (both gay men and lesbian women) have marital rights?

Florida passed a similar amendment.  It can effect straight couples too, cause it's defending marriage, lol.  It's religious homophobic bullshit.

http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Florida_Marriage_Amendment_(2008)
Quote
This amendment protects marriage as the legal union of only one man and one woman as husband and wife and provides that no other legal union that is treated as marriage or the substantial equivalent thereof shall be valid or recognized.

To answer the OP, I think gays should have the same rights as everyone else.  They aren't harming anyone by marrying.
I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

Personally i don't care what gay people do, as long as they don't force their beliefs upon others.

Wrong.

What the fuck is so wrong about that statement? Two people, regardless of gender, sharing enough love for each other to have the desire to spend the rest of their lives together.  I don't see the difference.

I love how Republicans don't want the gov't to tell you what doctor, school, stocks you have to go or invest in. They don't like a big gov't controlling you lives but they're more then happy to have the gov't be able to tell you who you can and cannot marry and if women have the right to an abortion.
Normally when I'm not sure I just cop a feel.
