This post made me laugh. :) What I'm saying, basically, is that war is something that can be predicted fairly accurately, and in most cases, nations know they are going to war, they just don't know when the offensive is coming. That's it. If you refuse to see this, my previous statement about the nature of your intelligence and wisdom stands. It also bemuses me that I type such good english that you assume that I'm from the US. or maybe, it bemuses me more that you think I'm from the US, when my spelling and grammar are above grade school level. ::)

So you're saying that the US had no idea beforehand that Japan and Germany were liable to attack them? Do you have any proof of this outrageous claim? And I did also mention the situation as it is today, and much has changed since the 40's. Like the internet, cell phones, and a rather quaint "What I do know won't harm me as much"-policy on part of the US.

It's actually kinda funny, since the idea that a nation would just randomly go to war with another, and the other will have no clue what's going on, is something that I labelled a childish idea, since that was what I thought when I was 8. Also, I have no friends on the internet. :'( I also never said that it wasn't possible for the US to be invaded by an enemy country or a coalition of nations, but for them to just go ninja on America seems like a silly idea.

For a long time people believed it was actually a surprise attack.  No one wanted to think their government could do something like that.  Much like today, people don't want to believe the government knew anything about the 9/11 attacks.
