I travel back in time every time I go West faster than the spinning of the Earth at that location.  It's easier at the poles, but it all falls apart when you cross the International Date Line. :(

You don't need to go faster than the Earth's rotation, you just need to go 88 miles per hour.

We are all moving through time at the rate of one second per second in our own non-inertial frame of reference. At least, I assume everybody who posts here is in a non-inertial frame of reference.

I traveled back in time, but when I got here you hadn't made the topic yet. Then I fell asleep, and just woke up now.

So yeah, time travel is possible in the near future. I can't tell you exactly when, because it would cause the space time continuum to implode or something.

True, that. Did you read Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett? He presents a thesis there, where the universe is deconstructed and reassembled at every moment, but we keep the recollections of "past" events, even though the past, as well as the present, is an illusion. Wen, the Eternally Surprised summarized this, after discovering it through meditation, with the phrase: "I was not born... Yesterday!", which, despite the pun, would be an accurate description. Although this does present some difficulties, imo. For example, would causality actually work if this were the case?
