Do I think everyone that does not do time in the military doesn't like their country?  Of course not.  That's absurd.  There is something in a few of us that feel the nation's protection is up to us.  But it by no means, means that if you aren't willing to die for it then you don't like your country.  You can be patriotic without military service.

Why?

Patriotism means different things to different people. The same goes for the perception of what a nation's "protection" really entails.

Well, that's tough.  All the sources I can find online show massive, pre-disarmament numbers for both the US and Russia.  We're talking thousands, compared to around 500 for China.  This is no longer the case.  I remember a Dateline (US news show) talking about how we dismantled all but a few hundred 'token' missiles over the last 10 years, while China has been steadily building their program since the 60's.

Sorry, but India has less than 300 nuclear warheads. How is that "nearly twice" as many as the US (greater than 5,000) and Russia (greater than 14,000)?
