You bring up a good point here.  Lets throw out the "economic intrest" and insert whatever else you want there.  Do I think everyone that does not do time in the military doesn't like their country?  Of course not.  That's absurd.  There is something in a few of us that feel the nation's protection is up to us.  But it by no means, means that if you aren't willing to die for it then you don't like your country.  You can be patriotic without military service.

Ideally, I'd like to go back to South Africa, but it's pretty shit there at the moment and I don't want to move right into the middle of a bloodfest. So I'm thinking of going to Europe instead. Whenever things settle down in South Africa, though, I'd love to go back to live in Cape Town, it's a great city.
