You don't understand (I'm not surprised).  I'd like to see you state this:

It's magical because you provide no explanation regarding the thickness.

It's just the usual vague guff that comes from flat earthers.

in the form of this:

Appeal to Ignorance:

There is no evidence against p.  Therefore, p.

There is no evidence for p.  Therefore, not-p.

Come on goldy, quit dodging and do it.

Not calling you a liar at all.  I happen to work in oil drilling/exploration and was curious about your references.  That is why I asked you to point me toward them.  Your claims are bordering on the fantastic.  If the FE was 9000 km thick then the argument could be made somewhat plausible.  Your claims that the "government" is installing things on the underside of the Earth is a bit absurd.
Why? Why wouldn't they do this?

I'd venture a guess that it's absurd, because they would have to counteract the UA which is basically as hard as counteracting gravity. Second, you have no way of knowing this, it's speculation. Lastly, they have no apparent reason to do this. Radio towers beneath the FE would be utterly worthless. Hovercrafts work by ejecting large amounts of air out the bottom to sustain a smooth glide over land. You are suggesting the need for spacecrafts.
If I was asked to imagine a perfect deity, I would never invent one that suffers from a multiple personality disorder. Christians get points for originality there.

There's no evidence for the earth to have a known thickness. Therefore the earth has an unknown thickness.

What this amounts to is "we haven't really tried".

The bluntest appeal to ignorance possible I imagine.

Damn, I give up.  You can't argue with someone who doesn't have a clue of what he's talking about.  ::)

Here are some questions for you:

Exactly how many atoms are there in the spherical earth?
What was the exact date of the Big Bang based on our modern calendar?
If you can't answer these questions accurately, IS THAT AN APPEAL TO IGNORANCE?

Seriously man, that quote pretty much sums up the RE FE debate.  Taking away of course all the NASA images.

We're not talking about the RE FE debate.  We're talking about something specific I said that goldy randomly claimed was an appeal to ignorance that obviously was not.  If he doesn't understand what an appeal to ignorance is he shouldn't be throwing it around like a philosophy professor and he should admit that he made a mistake.

You're wrong, anyway.

Are you Gulliver, by any chance?  He couldn't admit when he was wrong either.

That's okay, though.  I declare this one a victory for FE based on your complete inability to argue coherently.

Another victory for FE!

Good one.

But that wasn't good at all. I am confused.
Why justify an illegitimate attack with a legitimate response?

If telling your mom you won the fight gets you a bowl of ice cream and a hug, then I'm happy for you to do that.

But before you do that, you might like to go back and explain why the thickness of the earth is unknown...

The question has been answered.  The thickness on the maps are simply not to scale.

Moderator: Please can we make FE maps in the FAQ to scale?

Unfortunately, no.  The true thickness of the earth is unknown.  :(

We can't measure it.  How could we possibly know the earth's thickness?  ???

Another victory for FE!

Yey! All about the ignorance bus! Here we go again!

So if we cant measure the thickness of the earth and therefore cant say how thick it is, that makes us ignorant? Explain please.

It saddens me to admit it, but this thread is indeed turning into a fail for RE.

To sumarise the debate so far:

Q. How come companies can drill for oil from deep within the earth if the earth were apparantly as thin as your maps?

A. The maps aren't accurate. We've no idea how thick the earth is.

And you think that's resolution?!

Yes.
