Separation of Church and State is a USA idea, which isn't even upheld most of the time anyway. We are just as bad as thy would be for adopting Islamic law into the court systems.

So does that mean that killing your children for dishonoring you will be legal there?
Why justify an illegitimate attack with a legitimate response?

Madness.

I've said it for years; Britain is long overdue for a proper revolution.

God damn Muslim apologists, giving Islam power it shouldn't have in the West. Wasn't fucking up their own side of the world enough?

A Utopia would not have Islam in it, at least not in its current form.

Interesting thread heading except the sharia courts aren't state courts. This isn't harming any separation of church and state though it is creating more segregation.

As for the UK's separation of Church and State...

Who is the UK head of state? Who is the Supreme Governor of the Church of England?

So much for separation of church and state.

At the moment they don't pose a threat as it's only civil matters among the population's minority. problem is, in a few years, they'll be lauding the 'successes' of sharia courts and begging for them to have more power.

The christians overreact and form a biblical court. Religious courts become influential in real courts.

Hey! Woo-hoo, it's the Twelth century again!

Your avatar is both scary and win.

Now, on topic: Religion is annoying. However, our country was founded on the foundation of separation. Having religious references in political aspects just creates more FUD. Look at all the churches that protest gay marriage. Now, because of religion, the legal systems are starting to deny gays the right to marriage because the zealots use the argument "Marriage is reserved for a man and a woman to share their love with". Marriage in my eyes is the ability to share your love together in a binding manner between anyone. Afterall, it's been proven that among humans, love is genderless. Had religions not interfered, everyone would be able to get married, no questions asked.

I think Lewis Black said it best at Carnegie Hall in this: The Real Problem Is Gay Marriage and Rick Santorum Idiot

If you don't listen and agree, then you are truly an idiot in society and you should be put into a padded cell.

I don't think he's the same guy. Unless he's being sarcastic, and doesn't know how to talk sarcastically, then I disagree.

Like in the officially atheist Chinese state, gay marriage is legal there right?

Communism never protects freedoms. Not a very good example, communism is a religion.

I don't believe you are born gay.  It's a lifestyle choice.  Therefore the rules are, be heterosexual so that you can be married.  They choose not to be, hence they can't get married.  Or something like that.

Yeah, some day a dude decides that he wants to be an outcast to everyone he has ever known. He wants to never be able to find love, and if he does, no one will respect it. He decides to become one of the most hated things in our society, and give up girls. I'm sorry but if any "straight" dude here, could choose to be gay, then you my friend are a fucking fag. I love girls, they are so cute, amazing. If you really think that guys can choose to be gay, maybe you need to look deep down on the inside, and realize you are a fucking fag lol.

Several biological reasons, brain structures, chemical responses to pheromones. Testosterone levels possibly. Facial recognition, which is just falling back on brain structures.

For the same reason you are.

What's your favourite tasting drink or food? Now did you choose your taste buds to enjoy that particularly flavour, or is it part of your genetic make up?
