« on: September 01, 2008, 08:13:40 PM »
At first it sounded crazy...but then i've been thinking. maybe the world really is flat? who knows? but i barelly know why. so please tell me why a flat earth? and i will do everything in my knowledge to disprove you, and if i cant...well i guess then the world really is flat. but please don't give me a giant list of things.

ya but i want to do something like a debate, with one issue at a time, so that i can argue, try to see waht i can and can't disprove, and get my pros and cons organized so i can make an assumption wether the earth is flat or not.

first you need to be informed of the truth. then you can debate said truth. so, you need to read the FAQ. we'll be waiting for you.

ok. the FAQ doesn't give me alot. so lets just start with some stuff i can think of to prove the earth is round. ok mars...its their. there is no doubting it. when mars is really close to the earth, you can take a telescope, or even just a camera with a powerfull zoom (which i have done) you can see it! the red planet, craters and all. ok so, since mars is only the closest to earth every bunch of years (last time was about 5 years ago) that means it has to be revolving around the sun. and if the sun is as small as you say it is, then that would be impossible. therefore mars, AND THE EARTH have to be rotating around the sun and the sun is alot bigger then the earth because big things don't revolve around small things. now, if a flat earth was rotating around the sun, there would be light on the earth at all times (which there is not.) why you may ask? pretend you are holding  a frizbie horizontally. this frizbie is the earth. now if you line up a  flash light with it and turn it on, the is gonna be light  all over the surface of the frizbie, you can spin the frizbie as much as you want, but there will be light on the surface. unless you vertically spin the frizbie. but according to to this site, then you would just fall off.

it doesn't matter. mars comes close to earth not very often, so it can't be revolving around earth (or it would be the same distance from earth all the time, like how the moon is because the moon revolves around the earth). so we are all revolving either the moon or sun. and if i wasn't lazy i'd draw a diagram showing why it is th sun

Read the FAQ more carefully.

Earth does not rotate.

If you take a flashlight and hold it close enough to a frisbee, it will not light up the entire frisbee.

Of course it doesn't make sense, it's Tom Bishop's answer.

"earth does not rotate"
well ok then, if it does not rotate then there would still be light covering the entire surface (or atleast 1 part of the surface) at all times. and no where on earth is there light at all times.

"If you take a flashlight an hold it close enough to a frisbee, it will not light up the entire frisbee."
I'm just talking about the surface of the frizbie. right now, get something flat like a book or frisbie  or just something. (preferabley something that takes the shape of a circle, but you don't have to) this is the flat earth. now choose a side on your flat earth to be the surface. now take a flash light and go into a dark room. line up the flash light with the earth you have chosen (surface side up) and turn it on. you will see that the surface of your earth has light all over it, or atleast (if you dont have that powerfull of a flashlight, or you are putting the flash light too far away from the object you have representing the flat earth) there is light in the center. now revolve your earth around the sun, and follow it with your flash light. there will always be light covering the entire surface of your earth, or atleast there will always be light in the center. and the earth DOES revolve around the sun, and we already have proven the sun is bigger then the earth. If you still think that the earth is the center of the solar system, then please tell me what mars is revolving around?

and if you refuse to listen to me why mars proves that the earth is round. then tell me why it is impossible to have a round earth? and don't tell me to go to the FAQ because it doesn't help me too much.

because then it would be crushed under it's own gravity untill it is a ball. and there is proof from space shuttles that the earth is round because they have taken pictures and videos.

and who owns the shuttles? nasa. they cannot be believed or trusted. their pictures are obviously faked and cannot be trusted.
