There is a lot of stories claiming that the CIA did a number of experiments involving mind control.  MKULTRA just to name one.  Any thoughts?

It's entirely possible to influence people's thoughts. To actually control them is another matter; I don't think anybody can control absolutely everything you think about.

I agree with your statement for the most part.  I may be wrong about my dates but in the 60s or 70s companies were using subliminal advertising methods at movie theaters to increase sales.  They were influencing cravings and urges right on the spot.

If I remember correctly, the United States military wished to train and use "psy-ops", soldiers who were adept with ESP, around the 1940's.

I could be wrong on the decade, though.

40s or 50s.  There are "reports" which are stories mostly that detail experiments that the CIA did involving telekinesis, remote viewing, astral projection, and some other things.  I do believe that there were some really crazy experiments, I just wish that there were some real proof that showed what did or didnt happen.

Your thinking about Neuro Linguistic Programming and Hypnotism. For the most part it is extremely hyped and typically you cannot force somebody to do something they don't want to do to my knowledge. But the the concepts of deception, persuasion and seduction is very real.

NLP seems to have advanced a few concepts. It has it's roots in behavioral studies.

In this video...

VC = Visual Creating
VR = Visual Remembering
AR = Auditory Remembering
AC = Auditory Creating

K and AD have something to do with emotions. I can't remember.

Some people are said to be wired slightly differently. Meaning they will look to different areas when accessing certain types of info but for the most part once you figure out the wiring then your set. Try it...

I have heard rumors that some police are trained to interrogate with a line of questioning to figure out someones wiring and then ask the questions they need answered. I do not know if it is true.

This isn't really mind control. More like mind reading. However there are some very freaky concepts which would fall into the realm of mind persuasion.

There were some projects run under project HAARP involving ultra high energy long wave radio waves which were aiming to achieve both weather and behaviour manipulation over areas as large as entire countries.  This was to be achieved by pumping RF energy into the upper ionosphere causing subtle heating, altering weather fronts in the area and encouraging destructive storms and flash flooding.

The behaviour manipulation stuff focussed on placing the brain under subtle but constant stress from background RF heating or 'noise', which would cause people to be quicker to anger, more likely to riot and generally make things difficult in the target country. Both projects were highly classified, disguised as atmospheric 'research projects' which just happen to have been situated in restricted areas such as military bases.

The results are reported to have been mixed, although it is believed that they are ongoing.

I believe whole-heartedly that this is possible.  Ive read about the HAARP project, but the documentation that I read stated that it was a program designed for studying long range radio communication by bouncing the signals off of the ionosphere

There was an episode of mythbusters that kind of disproved a lot of the mind control theories

Heeey, for once we are in agreement.

I remember seeing a magazine article a few years back which invovled putting on some sort of helmet, which would screw up your balance so someone operating a joystick could choose which way you walked. It is possible to resist, though, and the subject was fully aware of what was going on. I think we have yet to develp technology which will actually control your way of thinking.

Yeah HAARP had various goals, although what was beyond doubt was the kind of power RF waves they could generate were far in excess of that required to perform long range communication tests (unless they were trying to bounce a signal all the way around the world several times, or something).

I have no doubt that was a legitimate research project, although tests of the other applications could easily have been rolled in without the knowledge of most of the research staff.

The Manchurian Candidate book was pretty good.  Denzel Washington was in the remake of the first movie.  That wasnt the first movie about this.  Conspiracy Theory with Mel Gibson (1997) was pretty good

Would those Vegas hypnotists fall under the criteria of mind control?

no, when hypnotized your morals are still intact, so a hypnotist couldn't make you kill your sister or anything unless you seriously didn't have a problem with it and then you would just be screwed up
