i thought the definition of moderation was to watch over something. i suppose that's a loose definition, but i still think the job of mods should be to keep topics on track, keep spam off the site, and to delete "obscene" images and speech from the site.

Well I would have claimed the title engineer. Scientist is not usually someone with a formal education will call themselves to try and instill authority on a subject.

I am above you because I am a scientist. Also you use it to make yourself look less dumb about not knowing that an IP ban can be circumvented. A simple proxy server will do. Also unplugging your router for a few minutes can reset your IP.

I can manually change my MAC address on my router, call up my ISP, and ask them for a DNS refresh, in which they open up a utility press a few buttons, and presto, new IP. And it costs me nothing (i've done it for when I installed a router at work under the same ISP).

There are even programs to constantly register you a new IP. Boots you off the internet each time, but it stops IP bans.
