Quick question
« on: August 17, 2008, 05:50:39 PM »
Ok im a RE guy and all that but i just wanna know in the FE opinion. . .

What are falling stars and why arent they coming straight down on us since we are the ones accelerating AND why is it that since we are constantly accelerating but when we go through a cloud of meteors they always enter the atmosphere at the same velocity???

AND why do they come in as an angle? ? ?

thanks for the links but why is it if we are accelerating strait, we see them come in sideways?

They say they are orbiting whatever central point the rest of the universe is orbiting around hence a lateral direction, and then the earth comes up to meet them.

And what about those which skim across the atmosphere and even bounce off??? if we are accelerating then that would mean we would catch back up to it before it would have a chance to dissapear

Because when they bounce the are moving faster than the earth is accelerating for a short time like when you jump up in the air.  They bounce highenough to move out of your sight before they come back to earth again.

Ok so technically what you say is that it bounces fast enough to be faster then the earth for a brief time but the earth by now (due to constant acceleration) is far faster than the speed of light which would make the meteor going above light speed in which theoretically would make it stay lit after burning in the atmosphere but after contact with outer atmosphere it cools off quickly

No....

The meteor skips off the atmosphere with enough force to get it out of the atmosphere and conitues on it parallel trajectory with the surface of the earth.  But it also is acclerated up a bit from bouncing off the atmosphere.  Because of the speed laterally by time the earth catches back up with it again it would be too far down range for you to see it anymore.  Sorry if this isn't coming out right.  Im an RE'er trying to explain FE theories.
