If Earth is constantly moving up....
« on: August 05, 2008, 09:34:43 PM »
If Earth is constantly moving up then when a car is on a hill shouldn't it stay there? Since it's already on Earth.

You all say that there is no gravity. So, (imagine you're in your car) and you have no breaks and your on a hill. Since Earth the is always is moving up, the car will stay there because the car+Earth are moving in relation to any point that you can pick in space.

Imagine the car was in a box, and was unobserved. As the earth accelerated upwards, two cars would exist, one moving down the hill, the other stationary. But both are inside the box.

Now open the box. Only the car that rolled down the hill remains.

Where is the other car introduced at?

I asked you the question...So I would expect a valued member like yourself be able to answer my question.

I say it will roll down the hill.  So, your question is stupid.

It cannot until it is observed.
Now open the box, what do you see?

Same goes for you.  You said it.  Back it up.  Why won't the car roll down the hill?

You all say that there is no gravity. So, (imagine you're in your car) and you have no breaks and your on a hill. Since Earth the is always is moving up, the car will stay there because the car+Earth are moving in relation to any point that you can pick in space.

Firstly, the earth isn't merely moving - it's accelerating.

Here's a little experiment for you to try.

Grab a cup or a bottle or anything else that is curved - this will represent the hill. Next grab something that will move freely such as a pen or something else - this will represent the car. Place both of these on a table so that they are next to one another and touching. Finally, move the "hill" directly towards the "car". Unless the "hill" is directly behind the "car" it will push the "car" out of the way. In the same way that unless the car was on a horizontal part of the earth it will begin to roll "out of the way".

This is due to the effect of the UA yes?

So why does the UA not accelerate the car upwards too?
