I believe they're beings alive and well, merely in a different dimensional state. it's very possible that they see us as ghosts

A ghost is a non-physical entity. Our eyes could only see physical entities or objects. Thus, if this idea is true, ghosts may exist but are undetectable by biological senses or technologies. This concludes that "ghost sightings" are false.

Light is nonphysical, and we can see it. Wouldn't it then be possible that such sightings of ghosts are emissions of light? Also, ghosts show up on video frequently when they are invisible to the naked eye. Actually, a lot of the whole thing doesn't make sense, but the evidence is hard to deny.

No it's not.

Dunno, have you seen any evidence? I'd provide some, but I can't really think of anything definitive the interblag has to offer.
On a semi-unrelated note:
Has anyone here ever watched A Haunting? It's on the Discovery Channel sometimes. The acting is terrible, but the encounters themselves are interesting. And on the show, they interview the people the encounter happened to, and they are almost always sceptics, but when the whole thing is finished, they usually always become believers, which I think says something profound about first-hand ghost encounters.

Hmm. Yeah, you're probably right, as radiation is made up of particles. Of course, I could always say anything at any degree of stupidity at any time, read my sig. That was a momentary lapse of reason on my part.

I guess I think they're probably real, but we (people) have yet to "see" any. The shows that they have out there for ghost hunting though, are just gay.

You mean people in general, as in everyone? Well, then where did the notion of ghosts come from, had there never been any sightings?

For clarification:
A Haunting does not involve ghost hunting but instead the retelling of supernatural experiances. In case you were talking about that. I didn't think I'd see so many sceptics  :)

I'm not sure what I'm saying, I guess someone would have had to seen one, but I don't think there are as many as people say.

And I was just talking about the ghost hunting shows in general, like the one on Scifi. They are dumb and simply there for a ratings push.

As far as I know, all public "ghost sightings" have been debunked and revealed to have natural causes.  The only sightings which haven't been debunked are the ones which haven't been made public.

I'm ghost agnostic.
If they do exist they don't seem to have any influence in the physical world.

I do believe that all ghost sightings are a big case of mass hypnosis and a part of the human brains defense mechanism and general function.

Humans are supposed to be afraid of things they cant understand and when your running around in an haunted house while listening to a bunch of ghost stories you would naturally be scared of anything that would seem unnatural.

Either that or the show's tailored to the believers and it makes them happier to have skeptics converted most of the time. If the show had been tailored to skeptics I think it would delve more into explanations of what actually occured.

I've had personal experience of some form of strange manifestation that defied explanation.  Nothing seen only heard; very loud noises in very close proximity (under my bed ;D), footsteps in the room.  Only happened when the lights were out, except when the manifestation was the actual switching on of the lights. :)
