TheEngineer, a pilot who posts on this forum, tells us that the horizon of the earth is not curved in flight. A direct statement of a pilot's experiences in the cockpit.

Quote:

"I believe I said that I put myself through college working for an airline, thus having access to free flights around the world.  I also worked for a private FBO, in which the owner owned a Cessna Citation.  I am also a licensed pilot.  Not once, during any of the hundreds if not thousands of flights I've been on, have I ever witnessed the curvature of the Earth."

that man is a ignorant liar  ;)

in Alaska there is a time period where it is dark for days on end. this has been proven because of the earths axis and the roundness of the earth. what are your opinions on this subject?

The radius of the sun's orbit around the Earth's axis symmetry varies throughout the year, being smallest when summer is in the northern annulus and largest when it is summer in the southern annulus.

When the sun is in its Southern Annulus the North Pole and parts of Alaska are in perpetual night.

When the sun is in its Northern Annulus the North Pole and parts of Alaska experience a perpetual day

And you have evidence for a round earth?
You seem to have a lot of anger, is it because you constantly fail?

I'm an REer, but that just looks like the clouds are not all the same size, not curvature of the Earth, they will need much better evidence than that. And all you noobs are very angry on this thread, please stopping arguing points that already have been argued and use the damn search function for answers to your questions.

Here's how I read this statement: "Well, they're smarter than we are; we are losing every argument. But only idiots would believe the earth is flat, so it must be a joke."

Sounds like a victory for FE...

I often wonder how RE even got accepted as the norm. I mean, really, if I were to judge solely by the contents of this site, I'd say only idiots believe in a RE; it must be wrong.

No it's just that anybody with scientific background and believes in RE doesn't bother to come on this site. The only people who do are trolls with no intelligence on the subject and just think they're right because it's what they were taught. There are some good people on here though.

I'd agree that not all RE'ers are imbeciles, if that is the point you are trying to convey.

Because if the earth's orbit did not exist ICBM's could not travel half way around the world at a moment's notice.

Would this be the same ICBM's whose existence you claimed prove the earth is round.
The ones that exist in holes in the ground in the Dakotas.
The ones that occasionally get test fired out of submarines.

Which, incidentally, do not travel half way round the world at a moment's notice.
So wrong on all counts.
I know round when I see it.

This is a good point for Tom, he says that we need the ICBM's, even to say that they are what make America a superpower, and yet we have never used them in combat. So, do we really need them so badly that the government, or whoever, would lie to us about the shape of the Earth.

Tom has already been told the ICBM question, and he has already said that he can't explain it. Unless he uses an explanation like the kind he uses to explain GPS, which are horrible explanations

This is what Tom has to say:

Because ICBM's need the earth's orbit to exist.

So, if ICBM's exist, so must earth's orbit.
If it is possible to obit earth, it must be round.

We know ICBM's exist.
So,
IT MUST BE ROUND.

Thanks tom.
I know round when I see it.
