In RET, there are billions of neutrinos passing through your body at close to light speed in many different directions every second. According to the frame of reference of one of these neutrinos, you are moving at close to light speed. So by your own reasoning, you should be completely unable to move because doing so would accelerate you past light speed in at least one of the neutrinos' frames of reference.

No. The speed of electromagnetic radiation is 3*10^8 m/s in any of reference. Second postulate of relativity.

Saying "No." and then not contradicting anything in my post only demonstrates your lack of knowledge.

but how is this maintained from hte frame of reference for the force that is propelling us?

This is coming from a guy who just tried to explain special relativity to me. Ironic.

Translation I haven't thought up a magical way that a force originating lightyears away could propel the Earth at an apparently constant velocity despite relativistic effects on time, dimensions and mass.

For the record, the above post is not by me.

I can see why you are confused Robosteve. You are quite right, I misread your post.

What I meant to contradict was "So you will be completely unable to move". That is incorrect. You can always keep accelerating.

I agree with you. That statement was pointing out the fallacy in lolz at trollz's argument.

Also, lolz at trollz, please stop posting about things you don't understand. Thanks.

Hehe.

Good. So you can always keep accelerating. But according to GR, which you understand, the closer you get to the speed of light the heavier you become regardless of gravity or gravitation. So the force that would keep the earth accelerating with 9.81 m/m^-2 is of infinite proportion.

The above post is not me.

I would have said the more massive you become rather than heavier.

But because of time dilation, we don't need to maintain that acceleration according to an inertial frame of reference, only to our accelerating frame of reference. We can accelerate at 9.8 m s-2, but to someone we passed a year ago, it will look like we are barely accelerating at all.

In your frame of reference, you will be approaching the speed of light (2nd postulate) and thus you become more and more heavy and require more and more energy to accelerate. It has nothing to do with the force's frame of reference.

No, in our frame of reference the Earth is stationary. It doesn't look like it's moving very fast, does it?

In the frame of referance of the origin of the force propelling the earth, we are approaching the speed of light though.

the acceleration from the origion point gets smaller, but the mass gets larger and the time and length change, however the force exerted must increase to make our percieved acceleration continue.

There is no point arguing this. One inertial frame of reference cannot travel at the speed of light relative to another. So if the earth is accelerating for an infinite amount of time, it will approach the speed of light relative to another inertial frame of reference regardless of which in the universe you choose. Thus earth will become increasingly heavier and would have to be propelled by a force infinitely powerful.

So the question is, what constitutes the force, and more importantly, what fuels the source?

For the, oh, 50,034th time, the mechanism is unknown, but is given the placeholder name of 'Dark Energy'.

Why not think up your own term, use some greek or latin, don't be such pikeys.

Really has it been that many?  Did you get all the times? Remember there was that one about a week ago.  And the other about 3 days before that.  Did you get both of those?  I think you might be off.   I think its more like 50,037, and it keeps getting funnier, every single time you say it.  ;)
