Im willing to bet that the thing will show nothing, or the colliding particals will break the dam thing.

Now that would be a waste of time and money.

It's still a damn impressive piece of kit.

Also, I read recently that if Time-travel is possible, the turn-on of the LHC will be the earliest date chrononauts can return to. New Scientist I think was the source.

A black hole to small to consume any matter, but a black hole none the less.

There is a theory that the splitting particles could destroy most of the universe. Think of what we can do with splitting atoms, on a subatomic scale. Big fuckin' boom, blood clots!

my meaning was aimed at the fact that the more science advances, the less space god has to hide.

But i guess if the god partical is to be found, then this monster is the machiene to find it.

I love how newspapers like to make an article proclaiming that a bunch of insane scientists just wanna fire it up and see what happens while one "sane" man is suing the government to get it stopped. Lol.

of course, any religious person would do their best to stop it, it scares them to think that their beliefs are becomeing less concrete every day.

No, one scientist that believes a black hole will be created and destroy the earth. Also this will in no way disprove god. Please shut up.

it makes me question his qualifications when there isn't enough mass on Earth to even form a 'proper' black hole

I fail to see the difference between a black hole and a neutron star. A black hole is on a larger scale, of course, but otherwise, they're the same.

no, a black hole is smaller than a speck of dust, a neutron star is as big as a mountain, a black hole has generated enough gravitation so that at a certain point the escape velocity is greater than the speed of light.

Neutron stars do not become black holes as far as we know.

Even if the unthinkably improbable happens and a multitude of NSs crash into one another they won't form a BH
