Orbits around the Earth
« on: May 08, 2008, 01:10:20 PM »
How could an orbit be achieved around a flat Earth?

An orbit depends on the fact that the orbiting body falls towards the central body but that the orbiting is moving quickly enough so that the central body has already curved away underneath it.

How could a flat body possibly be capable of this?
 ???

Also, how can there be day and night - does someone turn on and off the Sun at night, for different parts of the World, while keeping it on in other parts?

According to FE, sustained space flight (orbiting the earth) is impossible.  Unless you are talking about the sun, moon and shadow object.  Those orbital mechanisms have yet to be fully explained.  What you have been told is a space program is actually an elaborate hoax being carried out by an international conspiracy.  Or so the FE'ers would say.

How about the hundreds of commercial satellites orbiting the earth for things like TV, GPS, etc? These must be in orbit for them to work.

Geostationary orbit cannot solve this problem for the flat Earth, as bodies in geostationary orbit also orbit the Earth - the Earth just turns underneath it at the same rate!

TV and GPS could eventualy be trick to fonction without satellites. But what about meteo which clearly show clouds, hurricane, etc. few hours before they realy appears over us ?

Two words for you: doppler radar.
