He said the moon is flat. That is one that I've seen, if he did in fact say that. If he didn't than eric is just a bigger idiot.

that was several months ago. he gave a long explanation of how the flat moon moving up and down relative to the sun supposedly causes the phases of the moon.

i pointed out that the mountains and craters of the moon cast shadows on the moon's surface in a way that contradict this (as anyone with a decent telescope could see) and that it contradicted everything ever observed about eclipses...he eventually gave it up.

i forget when this was, but it was shortly before a REAL solar eclipse occurred, with the totally dark area passing over the south pole!

This story seems suspect as there is no south pole...

Not to get off topic from this off topic conversation, but...

-If the Earth is flat then how come you don't ever see the side of the Moon when looking at it from a distance? Is it magic?

The side of the moon? The moon is a sphere, any part of it is the side.

Well, one side of the moon always faces us right? Shouldn't you see a different part of it when looking at it from a distance?

Also, another point I must bring up, why is it that if an earthquake happens on one side of the Earth, it is felt directly at the other side and not really anywhere in between?
The Earth is round. Get the hell over it.

Distance from the moon doesn't matter.  However, the viewing angle does.  If the moon is truly only 3000 or so miles away from a point on earth directly below it, then different parts of said moon should be visible from different locations on flat earth.  For example, if observers in NYC and LA are looking at the moon at the same time, then they should not be able see all of the same features.

Then again, if the moon is flat, as some theories suggest, then the viewable features would likely be more similar than different.

Which point? The one about the moon? Sorry, but you're wrong. I don't believe the earth is flat, but I do know that altogether 18% of the far side of the moon can be seen, depending on where the moon is in relation to you. For instance, some of the top of the moon that is not visible from the equator can be seen on the North Pole.
So your facts are flawed, which detracts some from your credibility. Be careful not to use anything you're not completely sure about in your arguments, because FEers will pounce on any flaw in your logic no matter how small it is.

Well obviously you're trying to pin the things you do on me.

And the point no one could prove wrong was why earthquakes are felt the way they are. You have an earthquake on one side of the planet and it is felt on the other side. In round Earth there is a real easy explanation, but no flat earth explanation.
