For Tom Bishop
« on: March 28, 2008, 08:59:17 PM »
Hay Tom. It would be nice if you could answer these few questions!

1. How old are you?
2. Do you have any kids? / If so, do you teach them that the earth is flat?
3. What country to you reside in?
4. When and why did you start believing in a Flat Earth?

And Lastly!

5. Can you prove with sufficient evidence of your own, that the earth is Flat?

It would also be nice if you didn't say something like "Well, can YOU prove to me the earth is round?".
Just answer those questions and it will make me happy!

Thanks.

1. How old are you?

Probably older than you.

2. Do you have any kids? / If so, do you teach them that the earth is flat?

Of course I would share my knowledge of the earth's true shape with children.

3. What country to you reside in?

USA

4. When and why did you start believing in a Flat Earth?

Years ago I conducted a number of experiments which have demonstrated beyond all doubt that the earth is not a whirling globe of popular credulity, but an extended motionless plane.

5. Can you prove with sufficient evidence of your own, that the earth is Flat?

A look out my window is sufficient enough.

A look out the window is nothing, Tom. Do you understand the way of science? Scientists make observations, experiments, reports and so on. Then they get tested by literally thousands of other scientists around the world for validation. Once a discovery is made, it goes through so much work and re-experimentation by other scientists and even non scientists until the point has been made whether the discovery is true or false.

Looking out the window, is by no means, science.

I will tell you why most people believe the earth is round. Its because all round earth discoveries have been tested, reviewed, blah blah and so on my millions of people and scientists.

Same has been done about the flat earth theories. But the reason we know now that the earth is not flat, is by people redoing experiments and finding out that they don't come out true or correct.

You say its an infinite plane, yet you have no proof of it. You say all the photos of earth, taken from space, are false. People ask you why you believe that, and you say because of discrepancies. What discrepancies? Just because the earth appears to be a globe, means its fake? Thats not proving it, mate.

You keep believing in something so false, it doesn't really matter to anybody else, because we all just laugh at you. Sorry.

In all of my research I don't recall hearing of any studies which prove through experiment that the earth is a globe.

Can you link us to a single one?

Surely if the earth is truly a globe, there must be at least one scientific study out there proving it so.

So wait, you guys don't have actual studies to back up your claims of 'endless research which has been reviewed and tested'?

I keep hearing that you do. So lets see it. Lets see a single scientific study which proves through experiment that the earth is a globe.

Earth Not a Globe by Dr. Samuel Birley Rowbotham

Your turn. I'm waiting for you guys to come through and back up your model with a single scientific study which demonstrates that the earth is a globe.

I don't recall anything in that book besides unrepeatable experiments, none of which said the universe to be infinite.

It doesn't matter how you personally feel about the author or legitimacy of the experiments. All that matters is that a scientific study exists which proves through experimentation that the earth is a plane.

Now can I please see one of the many studies which prove that the earth is a globe?

I've been told that many exist. So lets see one.

His experiments prove nothing because they cannot be repeated.

There have been no studies to prove the earth is a globe because every reasonable learned person in the western world has believed the earth to be round for over two thousand years. Aristotle provided physical and observational arguments supporting the idea of a spherical Earth:
  • Every portion of the earth tends toward the center until by compression and convergence they form a sphere.
  • Travelers going south see southern constellations rise higher above the horizon.
  • The shadow of Earth on the Moon during a lunar eclipse is round.

There is also the matter of ships going over the horizon.

There is no reason whatsoever that the earth can be anything but some sort of spherical body given these arguments. These arguments are well grounded in reason, and there is no contradictory evidence, so these arguments can only be considered true.

Well, shadow on the moon during the eclipse?

I believe, with your thoery there should be an eclipse almost every day. So the shadow from the moon would fall on the earth, for the observer it will be seen how an eclipse, right? But thats not happens, we see eclipses very rarely.

Or again, is there a magical orderness in the total chaotic universe, that makes the moon very rarely stand between Sun and Earth? That's in RET.

The thing about moon always turned to the Earth with one side, is tottaly magical! They made so much mathematical things to "prove" it is so. It's even weird, earth is spinnning around the sun, moon is spinning around the earth, moon is spinning axially, earth is spinning axially and still - moon always FACES earth with only one side!

But when you see, how moon always chases the sun everyday, you understand they have same path and same speed. We see them how of the same speed for us. But in RET Sun is just stands in one point, and moon is always moving - and still speeds of passing by in the sky a the same! The closest explanation will be, those two objects have similar features. But that not in RET - Sun is enormous and stands still, moon is small and spinning...

Magical "far-fetched" explnations of RET are just make stupids from humankid.

And at the last: actually, no scientists need to evaluate something with colleagues in all over the world. Now, with USA ruling the world it all about money, nobody cares of truth. We could have had truth when USA and USSR were eneimies. That hostility made the world very much more brighter and kinder!

I understand you hate him, but how did he fail in this thread? He asked for evidence and received none, he was asked for evidence and provided some. Everyone obviously doesn't count that book as evidence and I have never read it, but it is still an experiment.

If he gets in a spot of bother he goes "Elsewhere" to post new/other posts and gives the ones where he has no answer for (or the only answer being he's wrong) a wide berth. Facefacts/"that noob there" is mainly an observer that puts in his tuppence worth when he feels it necessary and is usually right/funny.
