i would say you are lying because a huge ice wall is unthinkable, there is more water on earth than 150ft if "piled up on each other" so why does it not overflow

in that sense, i cant think of a way that the ocean wouldnt go pouring off the side of the earth, unless gravity somehow kept it on, or if the water were to gradually become more frozen until it reaches the wall. i speak hypothetically of course.

Quick question about the ice wall...  Since ice floats on water, I assume the argument is that the ice wall goes from all the way down at the ocean floor to far above the surface of the water.  What's holding this huge ice wall in place?

Why judge a book by it's cover?

Why judge a person by their religion?

Labels are useful, but an empty jar looks like a full one.

I think this is a great site. Not for the idea behind what it tries to defend, but because of the sort of debate it encourages. I think I have forgotten how hard it is to be right and convince the other guy who is steadfast almost absurdly and maybe even because he knows it is false that he is wrong.
arth is round.

It's so good to be here amongst those who know beyond any reasonable doubt that the Earth is flat. Being of Western mind, I only believe what I can see. When I look around, the Earth is flat. Sure, there's little hills, and mountains and other topographical anomolies, but these do not detract from the overall flatness. She's flat all right, and I love her for it.

I have travelled to Europe. It was flat. I've also been to China and many parts of Asia. Flat as. And as an Australian, I can tell you that the outback is about as flat as flat gets.

I believe in the great conspiracy, because I have seen evidence of it. I've seen the propaganda pumped out by Roundies who are obviously too scared to admit that science hasn't really got a clue, which is why their "immutable truth" changes every couple of years or so when they work out that they were wrong. Quantum physics makes a mockery of many of the idiots who were once praised as genius. I trust only the observer, and this observer says that the Earth is flat, therefore, it is.

Feel free to argue with me, but I will be playing my guitar.

Regards, LAP.
t's flat, and that's that......

how? the existence or non-existence of gravity doesnt necessarily disprove the theory of a flat earth.

If the earth was flat then how come you cant walk to the end and fall off. Also i know all the "believers" believe that governmenst and NASA have a consiprecy about the earths shape and dont tell any one about the "ice WAlL" but what about indapendant explorers who have sailed around the world, what have they got to hide? also what have the government got to hide?

if the government has anything to hide, and if they are hiding something, we wouldnt know very well whether or not something is being hidden. thats the whole idea of hiding something. and considering that, how do you know that explorers had/have nothing to hide?

well to me it just seems that almost everybody has something they hide....and i said that if something was being hidden, we wouldnt know it VERY WELL. in other words if something is being hidden, it isnt usually obvious that it is hidden, but often possible to figure out or find clues or hints. also, i never said that explorers have something to hide. i asked how would you know if they dont have something to hide. maybe they do, maybe they dont. i dont know. sorry if that sounded sarcastic.

Am I right in thinking that all of the people for and against on this board are only partaking for the chance to have hypthetical comedy discussions.  I know that if this is the case all of you will probably keep up your ruse and not bother replying to my post with any substance but please for the sake of my faith in humanity come clean and assure me that this is all just a big joke.  If anyone really thinks that the earth is flat they should probably be taken into care, seriously.  This sort of ignorance is very dangerous, imagine the shame of having a family member that went around claiming that the wold is flat.  Where I live you would be subjected to a thourough psychological analysis and then locked up for treatment.

While I am at it if anyone here really does believe all of this hocus pocus do you also believe that the moon is made of cheese.  Or perhaps you think that all of the world leaders are actually shapeshifting alien life forms bent on confusing the people of earth for kicks.  The only reason I will ever visit this board is to reasure myself that I have a long way to go before I finally lose my own marbles.

When the big bang occured all dust and particles where spread round the universe now because space is a vacuum the only shape these partices could take when they were pulled together is a sphere any other shape would be impossible because surface tension would simpley deny any other possible shape. Unless of course the universe is a big lie which is your most probable response.

Of course I was exaggerating somewhat with the whole getting locked up thing but I hardly think that my post is ripe for attack in this resect in light of some of the more potent hyperbole that can be found in this forum.  I was merely positing that in Scotland which unlike the United states is not a thinly vieled fascist state one would be considered insane if they claimed that the earth was flat.  I would go as far as to suggest that if a member of my family or one of my friends genuinely believed that the earth was flat I would do everything I could to help them.

As mentioned before there is not one piece of evidence that can be backed up scientifically (and by that I mean proved through experiments, not just stated in a flurry of archaic jargon) to prove that the earth is flat.  Neither is there any way of discering a relevent motive for world powers to pull such an elaborate veil of wool over the people of earths eyes.  And answer me this, if it is a government conspiracy then how come all of the worlds leaders have agreed to take part in this expensive and pointless exercise when they a) Don't have anything like the sort of diplomatic relations required to sustain such a collective effort and b) Have absolutely nothing to gain from the endevour.  Truly this forum has lowered my opinion of human inteligence.

Okay, now your post is ripe for attack.

First off, it seems pretty clear you haven't the first idea what fascism is.  If United States allows people to get away with believing idiotic things -- like that the Earth is flat -- that's pretty strong evidence that it's *not* fascist, thinly veiled or otherwise.

Your insistence that anybody whose beliefs differ from yours to a sufficiently radical degree must be insane is, in fact, a thinly veiled fascist sentiment.

Basically, I think you've picked three groups that in your ignorance of their true nature you dislike for totally irrational reasons -- the United States, fascists, and the Flat Earth Society -- and thoroughly and mindlessly conflated them so as to attack them all at once.  All you've really demonstrated is that you're condescending and hateful.  Well done.

Yeah yeah, whatever, we've been through all that stuff plenty of times on this forum.

If this forum didn't coincide pretty well with your opinion of human intelligence, then you haven't met too many humans.

Your post supports my opinion of your ignorance.  You're willing to judge humanity on the basis of a tiny fraction of its population (how many people on this forum are truly FEers?), and you're willing to assign whole nations you know nothing about with a politically-charged label that you'd be hard-pressed to define in such a way as to support your intentionally inflammatory claims.

Your contributions to the discussion detract from its quality much more than they add.

Firstly may I say that I never once made any remark that condemned the American people as I have no qualms with them.  My gripe in relation to the fascist tag that I gave was aimed at the American government (look at that, we might even have something in common here) which in it's infinite wisdom see's fit to shamelessly erode the fabric of it's 'free' society by consistantly putting it's own selfish interests ahead of what is actually good for the people that they are supposed to be looking after.

I am referring to pro choice related political issues, it seems to me that there are more and more civil liberties being stripped from the public but I don't want this to descend into a pseudo inarticualte political debate as if you fail to recognise the points that I am making or in fact misinterpret them so completely then you are obviously intelectually and politically inert and hence incapable of discussing them with any substance.

As for view that differ from mine being insane, well with that sentence you have exposed your own ignorance as I never posited anything of the sort.  If fact I merely stated facts ie you have no proof, you are adament of your position, you won't listen to reason and hence probably maladjusted to contemporary life.  By refuting that which is painfully obvious you are undemining and besmirching the elements of your humanity that define us as what we are and ultimately put us in a different echelon of existance to that occupied by animals.

You witless flacid fool
