It just points out that faith is not rational. But noone ever said it was.

I agree that faith is not rational, but I think that questioning how we got here and trying to provide answers for it is.  The concept of a creator is an answer to that question so God as a concept is perfectly rational.

God answers a fundamental question of existence (correct or not).  The teapot does not.  Therefore it's a poor metaphor.

If I were to consider it rationally, yes.

God is one possible answer to the question of the origin of the universe. Just because we have no others (I don't know, science may have) doesn't make it proof of God.

I've already covered this. It is a greater effort to not believe in God then to believe, as God is the only logical conclusion, blindly hoping for an alternative is not rational.

nobody is blindly hoping. We're just not blindly accepting something that we can't prove
if i remember, austria is an old, dis-used name for what is now Germany.

No. It doesn't.

You are blindly hoping for an alternative to the only logical answer.

No. It doesn't.
You mean it isn't? Why not?

Exactly how is an eternal intelligent omnipotent creator logical?

You mean it isn't? Why not?
If you believe in God, you have to try to understand what he wants, and what he doesn't want. If nobody believed in God today, we'd still be researching science to answer questions, we just wouldn't be spending Sundays in Church.

I believe religion had a purpose in the past, and it has given us a worthy legacy, morality. I believe it still has purpose today, although not the same as earlier in history.
God is the absolute answer to any question, and the idea that the future is somehow planned and "taken care of" is comforting. More so than if everyone knew it was simply down to chance and decision.

He admitted it in another thread.

Actually, I understand that it seems that way to someone who was brought up from birth to believe.  Brainwashing is a difficult thing to reverse.

Everyone is brainwashed in one way or another. Religious people, RE proponents, Scientologists.

Look, Raist, it's a metaphor. You claim the idea of a teapot is stupid, that's the whole point.
I never said the teapot is stupid. I get what your point is. I'm saying your metaphor does not work, because it is not a parallel situation. I told you how to make your metaphor into a comparison and it went over your head. You failed.
