Believing in a Flat Earth
« on: January 31, 2008, 03:29:01 AM »
I guess I can see the attraction. I mean, the Earth being round is boring. Everywhere has been explored, every animal has been discovered, people have been into space and to the moon, you can see every part of every country in the world from Google Earth. Basically there's nothing left to discover and no mystery left in the world.

If the earth is flat, then that changes everything. Suddenly the government is lying to us, we don't know what the earth even looks like, how it works, what's underneath us, or what's beyond the icewall. It's a much more interesting world to live in.

:( I had a bad day ok?

I damaged my knee, forgot to email my awesomely brilliant homework so couldn't hand it in and got a 0 and now I think I've broken my toe on my brother's door.

On the other hand....how was I not being supportive? I merely said that the earth was flat and therefore he can't roll....cause. Well. The earth isn't rolling.

You started a thread called "Ironies of Chaos Theory", and you call me pretentious?

 ::)

Also, why do you constantly refer to yourself in the third person? I thought only Craig David did that...

Unless you are Craig David!

I am not understanding how discussing Chaos Theory is a pretentious Enterprise. You used pretentious tactics in your statments. But if you want to split hairs, you win the "indignant idiot" label as well. :-*

I'm not entirely sure what pretentious tactics I have been using, but using the concepts of chaos theory and irony to laugh at a bloke who got attacked by a crocodile does seem a bit pretentious. Why chaos theory anyway? it's a bit nineties isn't it? Jurassic Park obviously had a big effect on you...

Although you are a pompous buffoon, perhaps you are right in that I have been a bit contemptuous towards the flat earthers. I will think about it.

I'm not entirely sure what pretentious tactics I have been using,

Exhibit A:

Quote
Everywhere has been explored, every animal has been discovered...

Oh contraire.

All the interesting ones. Who cares about the boring little bugs and stuff like that?

Note the bold, for emphasis. You presume much in too short a time. Your response to being called on this is merely more gunpowder in the bag. Pretentious. Self Aggrandizing, Dismissive. You walked into a conversation you had no prior dealings with, and attempted to say, well, absolutely nothing of intrinsic value to the conversation, pro or con. Thus, pretention. Thus, I interjected a sarcastic rebuttal. You took it personally, and now never ending madness shall surely ensue.

but using the concepts of chaos theory and irony to laugh at a bloke who got attacked by a crocodile does seem a bit pretentious.

And yet, again, you are presumptuous. Irony in two-fold mean:

1 - You obviously did NOT read the link.

OR

2 - You are pretentiously trying to elevate yourself above all comers, and state that you are, in fact, all knowing, and that my intent behind the thread title, and the link are some sort of twisted cruelty gag.

Either way, you missed the point utterly, and pitifully. Your inept attempts at garnering an emotional response by being an obtuse Mallard turd does nothing to dispel the image you have created for yourself with your blatant piss-take into a thread.

And B:

Your username? What is a skank? The Urban, Webster, etc, all point to a specific slang term that means a certain type of individual. To come onto a forum that is bucking convention, and expecting to be taken seriously with a name like that, you are destined to fail. It is the exact same thing with our other resident dingleberry, Saddam. The poor soul has absolutely nothing better to do than hype up the Iraqi Dictator persona Card.

I have been on this site a VERY long time. Until last year, none of these people knew I was even here. This is the intent that will feed the fire.

You are not saying or doing anything, pretentious or otherwise, that has not been done on a daily basis since day one.

Why chaos theory anyway? it's a bit nineties isn't it? Jurassic Park obviously had a big effect on you...

The mere fact you mentioned Jurassic Park pretty much explains that you have absolutely no idea what Chaos Theory is, means, or how it is used in correlation with the other current modern sciences. That isn't your fault however, you are simply trying to impress whoever sits at your side. It never lasts, son.

Although you are a pompous buffoon, perhaps you are right in that I have been a bit contemptuous towards the flat earthers. I will think about it.

Being dismissive only masks your need for attention, any way you can get it. Gayer says you are her friend (I will defer to her alone). You're still a pretentious, pathogenic, failing organism, filled with contempt, who is trying too hard to make a splash in a pool far larger than itself... You will fail again, that is your nature.

I think you're overestimating me a bit to be honest. I nicked the name Captain Skank from a character out of a comic, because I thought it sounded funny. As for this obsession about being original, winning and trying to make a name for myself, I think that says more about you than it does about me. I only post here for my own amusement, not to impress other people.
