ok i have a general question...
« on: January 26, 2008, 12:41:52 PM »
I'm not tryin to discredit, disprove or start any argument or debate, but i have a simple little question.

Is the theory and/or reality of a "Flat Earth Society" come from a Christian science founding or what?
Was the first largely publicized book made by a Christian man or not?

..mind you i haven't been researching for much time, because frankly, i am too busy to sit online and read for a good few hours, so it seems like all ya'll are knowledgeable(i'm not from the south, i just love sayin that haha) um but yeah, could anyone help me out with the religious background of these people who started making this theory much more well-known?

thanks.

oh btw, hello, i'm emily.

Hi, Emily!  Welcome to FES!  SWM 31, and you?  :)

Yes, the man who started FES was religious, but that doesn't mean there's no scientific basis for his theory.  Most current FEers are actually atheists!
Where did you educate the biology, in toulet?

LOL! does SWM mean single white male?
lol i was like swim, uh yeah i swim too..
haha
daaaaayum

ok, but uh yeah, i was just wonderin if the dude was religious or not cause, really i find people who have a 'religious' motivation are usually headed towards capitalism rather than the 'good' of the people..

*cough* christian megachurches *cough*
lol.
but yeah, i decided to join here since, really i've never heard this before, well not since 6th grade when i was told that people thought the earth was flat before columbus explored, but then again, i was taught to give thanks cause we had a great feast with the native americans, and that they liked the new americans comin in and rapin, killing and giving disease to all their people. yeah. haha.

i'm not sayin i agree, nor disagree, really i am interested into how every individual came to this conclusion as absolute truth.
are there people here that halfway believe this?
are there people here who only believe that government is fucked, but still believe in a round earth?

really i am interested in how everyone came about to be part of this website and/or society itself....

thaaanks to anyone responding..

On the surface, this appears to be a real forum, with regular people having fun and being social.  But I am 70% certain that this is actually a Zionist hornets nest.

I would like to see some type of graph (preferably a pie graph) showing the percentage of Zionist agents and FBI spooks who are involved with this forum.  (All FBI spooks are Zionist agents because the FBI is a Zionist organization.  But not all Zionist agents are FBI spooks.)

The OP of this thread claims to be an 18 year old gal who has just stumbled onto this site and is curious about things.
But I'm not buying it.  *cough*  Zionist agent *cough*
In "her" first thread,  "she" conveniently attacks both Christianity and America.

It's important to understand that the Zionists who have hi-jacked America are afraid that someday a Christian group with a backbone will stand up and defeat them.  So they are constantly trying to tear down Christianity, and promote the idea that Christians are somehow synonymous with "megachurches", or something like that.
But the "megachurches" are all run by Zionists to make Christians look bad and to steer less intelligent Christians in the wrong direction.
Unfortunately, most Christians in America have been duped into supporting the Zionist agenda because they have been brainwashed by Zionist propaganda (through schools and televsion).

In reality, "Emily" probably works in the same FBI office building as TheEngineer, Tom Bishop, and the purple guy.  They may even be working in adjacent cubicles.

I'm sure there are a few innocent people here.
I wonder what a pie graph on the issue would look like.

They claim he was secretly atheist though

Quote from: Flat Earth: The History of An Infamous Idea
Questions remain whether Parallax truly believed his own theory, for his time as a socialist lecturer and commune member throws serious doubt on this claim. With divergent ideological, social and political agendas, it would be highly unusual for an extreme Biblical literalist to become entangled with radicals and, moreover, to dedicate himself to their secular cause.

There's more, but I don't feel like copying it all out. Page 45 of the book, you could read it in a bookstore.

Rowbotham was almost certainly a tacit atheist - a look at his projects and beliefs not specifically relating to zetetic science will help you to infer this.

The first documented Zeteticist, Thales of Miletos, was only "religious" in his beliefs about water as the divine element behind all things. He certainly wasn't a Christian - he lived some 650 years before Christ.

what you're saying might actually have made sense if you didn't make up so many fake words.  if you're gonna make up words and pass them off as "real" then DON'T have them beginning with the letter 'Z'.  everyone knows theres only one word that begins with 'Z' and thats 'Zebra'.

also...

He certainly wasn't a Christian - he lived some 650 years before Christ.

not true.  no one lived before christ.

Yes, the man who started FES was religious, but that doesn't mean there's no scientific basis for his theory.

It's true that the lack of a scientific basis for Flat-Earth dementia is not implied by its founder being religious.  Nevertheless, there is absolutely no scientific basis.

I vote that the founders of this little cult of the willing were more focused on making cash to fund some other purpose than having a legit niche to build from.
My problem with his ideas is that it is a ridiculous thing.

Genius. PURE, undiluted genius.

Just looking at satellite (or psuedo-satellite) photo (or faked image) it seems like Whittlesey would be a great place to have an FES Forum meetup.
