Some people here (not FE'ers) seem to think that HIV/AIDS is man-made.
Are we supposed to believe that monkeys created AIDS, planted it in their own brains, and then made humans eat it?
Personally i think that the argument of human creation is slightly more realistic.
No, we are supposed to believe that monkeys contracted a disease which evolved via its own nature, spreading to humans, where it evolved more, into what we have upon our hands right now.
There are reasons that I find the man-made possibility plausible--such as the fact that it's nearly hypermutatable, developing resistances to treatments faster than any disease we know, it's transferred through fluids and not airborne suggesting that it could be controlled (if it weren't for the sexual transmission part, but that could easily be an oversight), and it's has a very large incubation period (causing some to give it to others without knowing that they have it--which is one of the best tools a virus has). But even that evidence is easily overridden. I wouldn't say
more realistic for either way.
