Question for TheEngineer
« on: December 28, 2007, 07:14:09 PM »
Alright, TheEngineer.  You're obviously brilliant, so explain this one to me:

I live in the Bay Area- San Francisco to be exact.  I look out my window on a clear day, and on the horizon I can see a few islands- the Farallon Islands.  They are not always visible, but when it is clear out I can see them, plain as day, at least when I am at my house, which happens to be on a hill.  I decide it is such a nice day that I want to go down the hill to the ocean.  When I get there (about 3 minutes and 3/4 of a mile later) it is just as clear as when I left.  Yet when I look on the horizon- no islands.  Have the Farallons disappeared?  Or is it a government ploy?  That wouldn’t be good for the environment- we need those islands…     or at least that’s what they tell us.

That's right.  Very few people believe.  Way less than 11%.

Well, I have gotten some good practice... am I not welcome anymore?  I've been perfectly polite, for the most part.

Anybody who debates here either desires interaction with the other members of this board, believes the earth is flat/round and wants to convince others of their belief, or are testing their skill in debate and the use of pure reason. Often both the first and third reason.

Just this thread, or the whole forum?

He beliexes in a flat earth only if it is looked at locally, otherwise he believes in a round earth

Wtf is the point of addressing a question to a specific member, instead of the FES community in general? Just asking.

Hey don't be mean to someone who knows what manners are, there are regrettably few people who do anymore. Especially on this site
