Quick Question
« on: December 09, 2007, 06:14:04 PM »
Quote from: Flat Earth FAQ
A: The Earth does not have a gravitational pull.  Instead, dark energy and dark matter push the Earth upward at an acceleration of 9.8 m/s2, thus simulating the effect of gravity.  This is referred to as the Universal Accelerator, or UA.  The UA also accelerates all other celestial bodies.
So, if the UA pushes up on everything at an equal rate, why do my feet return to the Earth when I jump? If the UA is applying "upwards" (how can there be an "up" without gravity pulling down?) pressure to matter, and I am matter, why do I not hover in mid air after I jump? Think of it in reverse, if I jumped out of an airplane with an anvil, held it out at arm's length (pointing to the ground), and let go, it would not return to me but simply fall at its new distance. Are you saying that some matter is affected wile other matter isn't?

The UA does not affect you because the earth blocks the UA from affecting things above it.

So the Earth acts as a sail and catches the UA? What keeps the earth from rising into the bottoms of airplanes than?

Because airplanes also accelerate upwards at 9.8m/s^2.

The Earth pushes air.  And airplanes have this thing called LIFT.  Look it up.  The lift pushes the plane upward faster than the Earth is coming at it.  Just like RE planes.

Flight is possible in FE model. Space flight not so much.

Space flight is possible, just not extended space flight.

Actually that brings up a good point. Although it's obvious that according to FE we've not gone to the moon, nor do we have satellites, etc. ... Assuming we did have the technology available to us and the funds, will, you name it... is there any reason we would not be able to make a moonshot? It would seem to me the likelyhood would be much easier in the FE model, seeing as how the Moon is much closer than in the RE model eh?

Thanks

yes, FErs claim there are no satellites, and that the satellite pictures every weatherman shows everyone are totally fake!

Since when are they fake?  Is Google Earth fake?  Are pictures of clouds fake? No?  Well, then pictures of clouds on top of GE are not fake either.

Why? Why can an airplane accelerate upwards but not me?

If I maintain zero feet per minute of ascent, the Earth should rise into the bottom of my airplane, should it not?

You don't have wings.

No.  You are still accelerating upwards at 9.8m/s^2.

The FAQ says nothing of the moon landings being fake. Nor does it say satellites are fake. They just don't exist and operate in the fashion that we have come to understand.

I'd appreciate less making shit up.

I recall a general consensus among FE'ers (not the FAQ) that the NASA was a prime agency of the conspiracy and that they spent their money on photo manipulation and fakes rather than actually going into space. Although this dates back to when FE'ers held that sustained orbit was impossible.

I'd appreciate less accusations before clarifications.

Airplanes have lift.

You and the Earth are accelerating at the same rate: 9.8m/s2

No one missed that point.  That is what these responses have been to.

though, come to think of it, in the FE model, a jet could fly to the moon!

Take your mouth and shove it up your ass. Take a good lick because you obviously like the smell. I've not made such an unwarranted retort towards you such as this, so step back and *think* before you mouth off.

There have been many instances in this forum stating that we never went to the moon for various reasons...

#1: Indecision as to what the actual distance / size / shape of the moon itself really is. Could we even land on it? Many don't think so.

#2: Many people have argued against the existence of satellites or space travel... Including yourself. (Space travel anyway I know for a fact. If you wish I'll hunt down a few from recent past and link them here.)

#3: There's no reason to be an outright bitch just to be one. So shut the fuck up unless you have an idea of what you're talking about.

#4: I don't make shit up. Unless it's out of fun for parody or otherwise obviously stated, I stick with what's already been covered and try to see both sides of the debate and participate when I can.

#5: The FAQ does and doesn't say a lot of things people do and don't swear by in here according to the FE theory. Including yourself. So if you're trying to take the "Just the FAQ" routine... I don't think so.

Arrogant people like you are about the only ones that really piss me off.

Apologies to the forum for my foul language but enough is enough.
