Because they weren't really competing, it was a lie, invented by the conspiracy, to keep citizens afraid.

Can anyone actually give some sort of answer as to who conspiring against whom and why? Otherwise this whole conspiracy theory is  just masturbation, really.

I'm so glad you didn't waste your time spelling out "you're" so you could focus on the big words like "govermanet"

Since reading/writing is not your strong suite, I will spare you a begging "read the faq" response.

In short, the conspiracy is not the government. The conspiracy has power over governments without their knowing it.

RASA and NASA higher-ups are in control of the conspiracy; as well, China's aeronautics team is also in on it. Agent Z is a troll (or at least he's making shit up right now), so don't listen to him. The...er...govermanet...has nothing to do with it, just the aeronautics teams. So, yes, we're telling you the government didn't know about it. Then again, if you look at it, they're just as clueless as us as to what goes on in their "governmental" aeronautics facilities. They just toss money their way and hope something magical happens with it.

They didn't tell anyone because they wanted buttloads of cash. Who wouldn't?

So the mighty USSR went bankrupt as a result of the arms race just for putting up a good show and fool everyone, yeah I can certainly see that to happen, sure.

That is one magical bologna you ate some time ago friend, The government keeps NASA on a very short leash and it isn't shy to cut the budget (like they have done it before countless times) if NASA screws up or don't deliver results.

Did I ever say that the government wasn't in control of the budget OR that NASA doesn't deliver results? Fact of the matter is, the government isn't comprised of a bunch of engineers, and as long as they get what they were looking for as far of results go, they don't really have any reason to investigate against conspiracies. There's no reason to look into what they're doing as long as the results come through.

So the US government is run by a bunch of morons who are happy as long as NASA keeps feeding them "photoshopped" images. Well I don't buy that either. Not to mention that every space fairing nation and every nation that has ever sent a satellite into orbit would have to have the same moronic government.

You don't believe that the U.S. government is run by a bunch of morons? Have you seen Iraq?

Moving on, the other "space fairing nations" are Russia and China, and yes, their governments are "moronic." Then again, I don't see why you think they need to be moronic. If you were a government official and NASA kept turning up "moon rocks," photos from "sattelites," and tons of other results, would you immediately go, "OH MY GOD I BET IT'S A CONSPIRACY! LET'S GO RAID THEIR LABORATORIES!!!"

That was a nice cheap shot but I thought this discussion was about flat earth vs round earth not some political debate on Iraq. The US president does not represent the government as a whole.  If you don't agree on the US politics in Iraq, that's fine, but to blatantly declare that every government agency and their workers are morons is just as ignorant as the entire FE idea. As for the space faring nations, let's not forget Germany, Japan, France, India, and probably another 10 countries who sent satellites into orbit. They would have to have a pretty moronic government as well, not to mention countless of private companies who done the same, These companies surely run by morons who waste their private money on pretending to send satellites into orbits when they should just come here and learn all about how sustained space flight is not possible.

Who says they're actually orbiting the Earth? And I still don't see what your idea is that they need to be a "moronic government" in order to believe their space exploration crew is actually exploring space. I mean, hell, the rest of the world believes it, why shouldn't the government?

And obviously if they came here they would be skeptical, just as you are and pretty much everybody else. Such is the curse of such a standalone theory.

It's covered up by the space agencies. The top dogs of the government probably know something too.

All science is observed and interpreted based on the hypothesis of a round earth, and thus nobody else even notices.

WHOAH! This guy's 16 and he can't spell government?!?  What is this world coming to?!?

Anyway, the earth would look like a large circular disc of some depth (depth of the FE is unknown) with a ring of ice around it and the continents blah blah blah you should get the picture.
