lots of people have crossed antarctica and reached the other side, without being stopped by an ice wall or "the conspiracy" or falling off the edge, DISPITE FErs' claims that it's impossible!

Really? Who did that?

Crossed Antarctica on foot in the early 90's... There have been many people who have crossed it, and many more on top of that who have sailed around it. However, according to the FE map, that would be the longest distance in the world. Alas, it wasn't.

Please, any FE proponents.. I'd love to hear your explanation for this.   :-*

And don't say, "It's part of the conspiracy."  If it were, I'm sure as hell it would be more publicized.  As it is, I never even heard of someone traversing Antarctica before...

We won't be so lucky. Either they will find a way to take the fun out of it without being clear or rational, or they will ignore it entirely.  :'(

The mission lacks the official endorsement of the United States Government, which frowns on the growing number of polar expeditions mounted by a cadre of restless new explorers looking for new ways to conquer old challenges on a globe with no more blank spots to fill in.

I found that particularly interesting.

That's actually kind of strange... I guess they were getting edgy in the 80's.
