Actually, 'Is God possible?' was a rhetorical question. Certainly it is a philosophical question whether God exists. However, Raist's assertion was that God would arise in an infinitely old universe. This relies on the assumption that in an infinite universe all things are possible; this is not the case. Rather, in an infinite universe all possible things are inevitable. It is a philosophical question whether God exists in a spiritual realm outside the physical universe we know; it is entirely a scientific question whether God will come to be in the infinite lifespan of the physical universe. A scientific question answered readily enough: the answer is no.
A concrete definition of God is needed to say he is impossible. What is a god?

Both God and Religion are just hopes, honestly. It's a way for people to blame their misery, happiness, whatever, on something greater than themselves. Without religion, everyone would realize how truly damned the world is and just kill themselves. But they dont, because they'll "go to hell". o no :(

If you look closely, all religions have at least some level of hilarity or of the ridiculous. Mormonism is just very silly.

It's atheism and a complete lack of god for me all the way.
You cannot apply logic to the following:

As Sam Harris says, there is a spectrum of religious belief. Some more fanciful than others. When you realize that you can see that it is legitimate for a protestant Christian to criticize Mormonism for being silly, however it is also legitimate for someone like me to criticize the silliness in both...and all.

And it is logical for me to make fun of someone that claims there is definitely no god, and that his view is somehow "scientific".

There is no evidence of god, thus a scientific search of god so far points to no god.

Absolutely you do. Anyone who claims to have knowledge of the existence or nonexistence of a supernatural being in our universe without sufficient evidence is (in a reasonable society) subject to criticism. It's the same way that Astrologers and Palm Readers are only accepted by a limited few and are openly criticized.

Then science says there is no decay of protons, there is no distortion of space time by mass, that there is no gravitational waves et al.

It's true that the fact of there being no empirical evidence for the existence of a supernatural being in the universe does not mean there is no such being, however it does greatly reduce the probabilities. Even if you don't accept the probability argument, there is nothing that suggests to me an intelligent element to the universe beyond human beings so I base my life as if there wasn't. There is no evidence of intelligent life on other planets and I live my life as if there arent (I don't assume there are and don't make up characteristics of what they might be).

Or it would mean that God hides himself so that those who would not seek Him do not have His presence forced upon them.

Then why am I cursed for not feeling his presence. Shouldn't he be shouting out to me and save my soul?

That's one thing that has always bothered me. I'm sure Pascal's wager has been trotted out by the religious apologists as why we should all believe in god however I think there is a fundamental problem with that. I have no choice in what I believe. Trust me, I've been to the depths of nihilism and felt that religion was my only way out. I struggled for a long time to believe but simply couldn't. So, does this mean god has cast me out of his graces or perhaps that I am posessed by some kind of evil?
