I oppose all dogmatic beliefs.  Marxism has as much evidence supporting it as any religion does.

Religion is for people who fear god. I say bring him on!

No, the Bible clearly indicates that is a blasphemy. Sometimes I think I am the only rational person on this forum.

Trust me, you're not alone.

It is a good quote, my friend told me it, as an atheist it's one of those quotes that stuck in my head.

And um...where does it say that just saying the phrase "there is no god" is unforgiveable? And if that is indeed true then are C.S. Lewis, Lee Strobel, Alister Mgrath, Francise Collins, and countless others going to hell?

The passage Luke 12:10 is what I base this conclusion on. Yes, I have seen your other thread and no, I don't agree with you. Stating that God does not exist is a blasphemy. I don't know if those people are going to Hell or not, did they blaspheme against God?

I would like to add that being an atheist does not necessarily mean you are going to Hell. The definition of blaspheme is: to speak of or address with irreverence.

So as long as they have not spoken anything irreverent they may still go to Heaven (they still have to denounce atheism, of course).

That passage is speaking of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit which is different from denying God's existence. Yes it might be irreverent to say God does not exist but the atheist is only acting out of ignorance, the only reason he is going to hell is because he is not saved.

It seems as if you guys are engaging in an endless, round-n-round discussion. A few things here.....(1) Blasphemy, according to the ancient greek text new testament, is when you know the truth(about God) and you deliberately preach the opposite to others below the age of accountability, that's blasphemy.

Now, onto this subject about (2)'is there' or 'is there not' a God.......well, it all depends on your perception. This isn't one of those prove or dis-prove subjects because it's based totally on 'subjective perception'. If I were to say I am God, you couldn't prove it or dis-prove, you'd either believe it or you wouldn't. That is why God the creator has given us free choice. He isn't in it for a popularity contest and he'll never force you to believe......obviously my perception is that there is a God, that's where I stand.

He'll never force you to believe, he'll only torture you for all of eternity if you choose not to. Thats free will for you. ::)

Some choice... choose among believing in thousands of religions, all with contradictory tenets, many of which also condemn those who do not believe, on no evidence whatsoever.

Well, for starters, "perception" implies the use of senses.

Also, yeah, we have free will, but if we choose the wrong thing to believe in, we get to burn in hell or some shit.
Maybe I will!
